yes it did restart. Was wayy too sleepy to post again. All right so Malwarebytes did remove infections, a couple more it detected and removed successfully. I’m running a full scan of Stopzilla to see if the infections have decreased or not. This will take hours.

Darn it! A mere glance at the scan reveals a trojan now

and this is just 1% scanned

Will deal with this in the evening iA. Gotta get ready for work now.

try defragmenting. Or it might just be a simple case of clearing ur history bar. Also try and uninstall any unnecessary programmes that youre not using.

Ok so my pc was working fine. Now i’ve noticed it’s been a week and it’s gone slow. Really slow. Takes forever to boot. Programs load soooo slow. The hourglass mouse icon appears on opening folders.
I use Avira antivirus and it’s up to date. No viruses detected there. What’s wrong and where?
Tell me what I should do?

I would say format your C: drive (even if it is the last resort thing) and partition your drive, as the biggest problem is backing up your docs and a partition would help in that.

It also depends what system you are using. Though XP is leaner on resources (has fewer processes than Vista / 7), XP also gets slow over time due to accumulated registry and cache junk compared to Windows 7.

So what has been the result after running malware bytes? And i Forgot to tell you one thing. You should have uninstalled avira (considering you had that) before installing malware bytes. IF not, ten remove avira and run malware bytes again.

And now you tell me!! Well i ran the malwarebytes program. It detected 15 infections. Removed 'em all. Then tried Stopzilla to check for infections. Now it shows 54 infections including a couple of critical level GSFA trojan viruses. I’ll uninstall avira and try malware again.

Oh since it is that nazi Avira , have you checked that real time root kit protection? is off. I think this is what it is called, and I say that because i had avira and had this option on and could not visit any sites (soo slow).

PS At this time, you need to sit down and reinstall windows and then put on proper protection (AV + malwarebytes + firewall on) and create a partition in the install process, so your files are permanently saved on a different partition if something happens again.

The pc starts a bit better now. But then all programs open up veryyy slow. Am working on it

yes Dopple G…Stopzilla says 51 infections still there. Somehow Malwarebytes fixed infections prolly realted to booting windows??

I think from your last picture, stopzilla was picking up crap more than usual. I would still advise to take the plunge and reinstall windows and do as I said before with partition etc.

I installed stopzilla just to check and boy was that a mistake. I got a blue screen right away after the required boot and it was asking me to delete a .dll file in systems directory. Yeah right, after what happened with Ad-aware last year when I lost my research paper around exam time because of the AV stunt.

Alright…thank you everyone for helping me out. PC’s better now. There are still some infections detected by stopzilla that are undetected by malwarebytes. I’ll make peace with them for now!
