Ok so my pc was working fine. Now i’ve noticed it’s been a week and it’s gone slow. Really slow. Takes forever to boot. Programs load soooo slow. The hourglass mouse icon appears on opening folders. 
I use Avira antivirus and it’s up to date. No viruses detected there. What’s wrong and where?
Tell me what I should do?

Run stopzilla and see if it detects any Trojans or viruses. All programs do not detect all Trojans and viruses.

check task manager and see if you find any suspicious program in memory

Your instructions are incomplete. 
You did not tell her how to get to command prompt and run format c: command.

i wasn’t instructing…i just told how she will have to handle it in the end … she can ask when she reaches that stage…

If that does not help then let me know. Stopzilla may also not be able to detect all malware.
Most probably it is some kind of malware though. Virus, trojan , spyware etc.

umm there’s a lot of suspicious programs cuz i hardly know wht most do…all look devious to me

before killing them or uninstalling them, please search each exe on google, will help you to understand the name of program.
if you find any un usual then you can delete that by using control panel uninstall option.

back up important stuff from C drive first…then start playing…
btw…my first suggestion remains…you can waste 10 hours trying all of that…or 1 hour doing wat i said..

Agree to that from personal experiences. But let her try it first. It is not fun to format and start all over again specially if you tons of personalizations.

the best thing is to make a GHOST…i recently employed it for the first time in emergency situation…and nothing beats that

yea…but still… even if fresh install and reinstalling of essential software…in total it would take less time…
sometimes those boot sector viruses…they don’t go away…no matter what you do.

Create a new user account on the computer. Log in as that person and move all the docs and shortcuts!

Ok im back with the results after running Stopzilla. My PC’s diseased. 54 infections detected
