I’m not sure, are you talking about boyfriend/girlfriend type relationships or just friends/colleagues?

In family, it really depends on if the person is older or younger. I’ll let my older cousins and brother pay for my stuff…and in turn I’ll pay for my younger cousins at another time. Of course uncles/elders pay. :smiley:

Friends, it depends. If its kinda cheap (like <$20) I don’t mind letting friends pay :hehe: but if it’s anythnig more then I do insist on splitting it.

The only time I’ll insist on paying for something is if it’s someone’s birthday or a younger cousin/friend…the latter because I just dont’ believe on taking money from someone younger than me.

Work colleages (nto that I’ve ever been in that situation)–totally equal, no debate about that.

Edit: This was all about coffee/lunch…I had no idea that ppl actually had guys pay for their shopping/bills too… that’s just…wow. :confused:

Either. Obviously you may have a different approach for either cos of your relationship with them.
What about if it's someone who's practically a stranger - say someone who you may meet for rishta purposes, or someone who you have met for social purposes - is it always the case that it's more 'polite' to let the guy pay?

ahh ok....I would probably let them pay only if they insisted..otherwise I'd pay for my own stuff.

During college days most of the time I paid for myself if we went out as a group of friends. Sometimes during our work meetings my coworkers went and brought food back for me if I couldn't go out with them.. most of the time it was the guys that had paid for the lunch and I was comfortable with that. Now hubby pays for dinner except when I take him out for his birthday :)

That is how it should be. If i were in relationship i would pay for my girl too with no problem.

I am not comfortable with any one paying for me unless its my parents/husband or brothers.

Seldom let other paying for me.
But I will be OK for the chicken feed.
And for the family I think all can pay the bill.
