Does anyone know if there is a chance that patiala or semi-patiala shalwar kameez will ever be popular again?
Me and my wife live in the UK and she only wears whats in fashion, i really miss her wearing those dresses and can remember when they were very much in with everyone wearing them a few years back.
I know many people find them ugly now but i think they are really cute. Anyone still like them other then me? and how can i convince her to do so lol. Thanks
Agreed! I despised the patiala salwaar fashion immensely. In fact, I never ever wore it. And never will! I doubt it will come back into fashion any time soon. These days it is a shorter length kameez with cigarette pants which I think also looks nice.
I still adore patiala salwar suits, not everyone likes them which i can understand but i still wear them as well as trouser and long kameez, i definitely find them comfier then trouser.
seen them creep up more and more in boutiques so they may be slowly coming back in, but tbh i'm not bothered if they offend peoples sensibilities, i like it! in fact i wore it to a wedding last month. Sounds like your wife is into current trends, surprise her with a suit, have a look online or in shops for something which might appeal to her. Let us know how it goes.
Oh god no! Why were shalwars even in fashion??? They just look ugly. Hope capri pants are here to stay. I noted a link where it said that patiala shalwars are coming back into fashion because of MAHIRA KHAN in Bin Roye
Panache i’m loving the banarsi suit, dhoti’s are also really cute! wish i could make my own stuff Can be a pain finding the perfect suit so would be nice to be able to make what you want.
So Patiala’s are definitely on their way back in fashion, they’ve been stocking new styles for eid in shops here in England and lots of new stuff online. Came across a lovely lilac patiala, had to have it for eid
To those who don’t want them to come back in, Patiala’s are a timeless favourite, dunno why people find the look so offensive, personally i think they can be pulled off just as elegantly as capri/trouser.
Panache, lovely creations, you seem like somewhat of an expert. Can i ask you’re opinion? Been wanting a silk-satin suit for an upcoming mehndi, i have patiala suits in silk-crepe but its lighter then satin so i dont know how it will drape, so do you think semi patiala or full patiala will look better for satin? xox
i like all these styles, although was wondering if it would look nice with the kameez in satin too?
In UK shorter kameezes have been back in but with capri pants, got a couple of dhoti salwars, and seen some really nice patialas in shops but not seen many girls wearing them around

honestly, who cares? fashion comes and goes constantly. wear what you, and your wife want :)
if she wears something that is not "it" right now, more reason for her to stand out (and avoid getting lost in the puddle of looking like everyone fashion-wise) and not wear what everyone is wearing !
thats exactly what i said ... for her to wear what she wants without caring whats in fashion
and Im not assuming shes not comfortable with wearing whats in fashion.. im saying be confident in whatever you choose to wear, dont care about what others are wearing..
what is pretty to some, is ugly to others. so why wear stuff that pleases others.. the person wearing the clothes should be the one happy in them
I'm also hearing that patiala shalwar is slowly returning to fashion. Will make use of mine that only had the chance to wear once - that fashion disappeared so quickly last time!
patialla shalwars are not in. But tulip shalwar/trousers are in these days and they look really nice. pair them up with lawn kurta and you are ready for summers.
What you meant to say was....eeeeeeiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.
Let the patialas remain lost and not be founded again anytime soon. Sorry OP, I like trouser pants...even tights are fine....chooridats are okay too....flared pants and even bell sleeves can be nice....but puttyaalahs...are just not so purty :( All them folds hanging down...they make good hiding spot for toddler playing hide-n-go-seek. And it won't look as seductive if there's a hawa ka taiz jhonka...
