The Taliban ruling Afghanistan is similar to the German Nazis occupying France.
They were educated in Pakistan and have a whabbist arab interpretation of islam and were imposing that will on the Afghan people who clearly did not want it. They are mostly foreigners who came to Afghanistan and intermarried with the local Afghan population.
It doesnt take a Rocket Scientist to do that. You could tell that Hitler was bad for the Germans or Stalin was bad for the Russians or Polm Pot was bad for Cambodians or Saadam Hussein was bad for the Iraqis, etc....
The Taliban policies, their backwardness, their utter stupidity in terms of civil matters and their support for international terrorists and the oppression of women and civil liberties.
The Taliban were easily overthrown. There are no pro-Taliban marches in Kabul, there is no great insurgency against the foriegn troops in Afghanistan and those that are fighting the NATO and US are based in the Mountains and not in the cities.
That tells me the Taliban do not enjoy any support and they bribe Afghans to become suicide bombers by giving them money and not its their patriotic duty to kill Americans and over throw the Karzai government.
Iran is not a democracy. If it was reformists would have been allowed to run. Basically a ruling council of fanatics runs Iran and they decide who runs and who doesnt.
As for Palestine, when Hamas got elected they had to act like a responsible government and not a terrorist organization. But they chose the later.
