That’s a beautifullllll song… Great site, I’m going to see if they ave “larsha pekhawar ta..” song it’s hot.

there are many different versions of larsha pekhawar ta LOL… whose version do you want??

there is an afghan version larsha nangrahar ta by a female singer called Sajia

which you can listen at

http://www.mastana.net/music/index.php?p=Sajia/Aroos

scroll down and you will see larsha nengrahar ta. it is the only pashtu song on the list though. the rest are dari.

this is how pashtu sounds when its pronounced by a Dari speaker.

Re: Pashto/pakhtu for beginners...

Both Pashto and Ossetic are East Iranian languages. Rather they are the only literary languages in the East Iranian group.

It is interesting that Ossetic people live in Northern and Southern Ossetia ( Caucauses). Southern Ossetia is an autonomous region of Gergia whereas Northern Ossetia is an autonomous region of Russia. The Beslan incident, when school children were killed due to terrorist voilence, occurred in Northern Ossetia.

Capital of Northern Ossetia is Vladikavkaz.

Pashto and Ossetic languages have significant common/similar vocabulary.

Following is a discussion about similiarity of Ossetic and Pashto vocabulary from another forum.

I see it very close to Ossetic. Kap-Kaf and Ghwa-Ghog. I have heard a story about an Ossetian woman, who was married to a Pashto man in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. She told she could easily learn Pashto language because it is very close and many words sounded similar. I don't know how true it is.

Re: Pashto/pakhtu for beginners...

In Ossetic, river is called Don (Don is the name of a river in Ukrine/Russia). In Pashto a pond or a lake is called Don. In Ossetic, "big" is called "styr". In Pashto, the same word i.e. "styr" is used for "big".

Re: Pashto/pakhtu for beginners...

^^ For those of you who are wondering. This is how we used to plead our brothers to go to the little stores and get us yummy samosas, chats, paapar (chips) and all sorts of other junks.

Translation from the 2nd line: Now go and get me things from Minu Uncle's store. And get me hot/just fried samosas from the samosa wala.
