Alot of makeup pix on this forum show ‘bridal’ makeup. Im actually attending my devar’s wedding in Lahore in March and would like to get my makeup and hair done from a good parlour. Any suggestions as to wear to go? Do they classify this as party or engagement makeup?
Since I will be wearing my wedding lehnga and jewellery, I dont want to out-do the bride… so nothing “full-on”.
Perhaps you can attach any party makeup pics that you come across as well…? Thanx!
Pretty much any salon that's recommended for bridal makeup, you can get them to do party-makeup. i THINK (not sure) the major diff btwn party and bridal is the duputta isn't set on your head, like a bride's....also the base isnt' as thick as bridal makeup would be (since she'd have lots of cameras pointing at her). As long as you don't pin the duputta to your head and enter with 3-4 girls holding ur lengha, i'm sure u won't outdo the bride :D
hahah yeh true!!!
damn, might have to get a new dubatta made with my barat lehnga as it was tremendously heavy and i dont know how I could have it set in any way?!?! Dont think it can even be worn as a 'patti' on the side coz it was so heavy.
I 'spose I'll just tag along to whatever parlour the bride is going to...
depilex, madeeha's, allenora, newlook, are the ones that come to my mind..i'm sure theres lots more!
my devar's wedding is coming up too, I dunno which 1 of my lenghas to wear, the wedding day (whcih was heavyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy) or the valima (which was gorgeous but much easier to handle)..ahh who knows, i guess ill c when time comes :D
^ Well i'm a navi navi dulhan, so i wanna look xtra spechul :Pretty:
His wedding's in July, InshAllah, my mother in law will bring matching mehndi outfits for allll her bahus. On my wedding day, all his bhabhis wore red outfits (shalwar kameez/sharara/sari) so it looked kinda cute (esp since I was wearing pink so i stood out :p) i'm not sure if it was on purpose though.
hmm, well im not a navi navi dulhan but i wanted to look extra special on mendhi but my saas still went ahead and made all the same outfits for me and my nands (who are single) for the mendhi function. I didnt have the heart to tell her i wanted to wear heavier kaam since i was married and was the "bhabhi" ...
^oh dont sweat it, dressing up is all about accessorization anyway
wear really nice chorian-- ur real gold ones w/ glass chorian on one hand and glass chorain w/ nice fake karays on the other-- u know the ones w/ the jhumkas and what not
get ur nails done and do ur hair and makeup nicely- that really glams things up
and lastly wear really nice jewelry, real stuff that coordinates w/ ur dress
this way u'll be wearing the same stuff as ur nands but still standing out as a little more dressy
as far as party makeup is concerned-- its a lot different than bridal makeup-- a lot less makeup in general and it looks more natural, basically they'll just give u a more polished look and accentuate ur best features, if u dont want to wear ur dupatta on ur head (completly understandable) then put in over one shoulder and carry the other end on your other arm, that way u can balance out the weight and it looks more sophisticated than just putting it over one shoulder
Is it possible you can get a heavier duputta made with the dress?
Aasiman's right, it's all abt accessorization, do get your hair and nails done and wear tons of jewelry.. and hope and pray your nands won't do the same :D
its a colourful dubatta and patiala shalwar (i think with all the bright colours that are IN these days) and the kamiz is short with rounded edges. We will all have a different coloured kamiz each... me and my nand's that is. The kamiz will have kaam on it.
I got the worst colour..... PINK!!! :( Not that I hate pink, but if its baby pink or tea pink it wont look as good as a brighter shade on a mendhi function.
The other colours taken my by nand's are: torquoise, rust and red (all the hot colours...)
Anyway, I think ill wait n see what it looks like before i judge it. Afterall, I will have all my wedding jewellery to jazz it up with :D
