Re: PARSI

muslim women can marry only muslim men....
muslim men can marry only muslim women and women of ahl-e-kitaab....

Re: PARSI

so what is parsi then?

Re: PARSI

Fire worshippers?

Re: PARSI

well technically they are not fire worshippers, yu need to read a little bit more about zoroastrianiam to see that, but they can not be considered ahl-e-kitab although the similarity in the early zoroastrian thought and the abrahamic relgions is striking.

I have a Parsi pal in chicago, he actually posted on GS a few times as well, I can ask him more specific questions if you have any.

Re: PARSI

Zoroastrians are closer to Indo pak muslims than the real Islam.. everything Muslims practice in that region has a heavy Persian influence.. so I'd say sure go ahead..

Re: PARSI

Re: PARSI

 Was it revealed to Pervaiz or Khalifa Rashad?

Re: PARSI

The only non-Muslims we are allowed to marry are People of the Scripture (Jews/Christians) and that’s only the Muslim men, Muslim women are only allowed Muslim men.

Zoroastrians are not People of the Scripture.

Nothing to do with the topic but the Prophet’s :saw: companion Salman Al-Farsi :razi: was born to a Persian Zoroastrian family.

Maybe Zartosht was one of the earlier Prophets, maybe the Zartoshti religion (Zoroastrianism) was one of the revealed religions before innovations such as Satan being the evil twin of God and as powerful as Him crept in. Allah knows best.

Reportedly Prophet(pbuh) collected jizya from zorastrians and following this practice Umar(ra) collected jiziya from them as well

Re: PARSI

this makes no sense at all. Why would it be ok for one and not the other?

Re: PARSI

A lot of books are mentioned in Quran, some named and some not named. Has it been explicitly declared anywhere who exactly are the people of the book? I mean you never know Zoarshtrians had also got some book or Hinuds.

Re: PARSI

Zoroastrianism is ideologically close to hinduism, considering both came into existence around the same time and from the same source- mithraism. Infact vedas and zend avesta echos the same stories, similar morals and identical gods and demi gods...the hicup is, they both are antithesis of each other...

Central asian aryans had a religion called mithraism. Which was a polythesis in nature...Two groups of clans emerged from it namely devas and ahuras...Both fought each other bitter before parting ways ...Ahuras invaded iran and devas invaded indianic plains...Both wrote verses showing each other evil...over the period of time, Ahuras came to be known as zoroastrians from their philosopher preacher- zoroaster. And devas merged with other settlers in india like dravids and adopted their beleifs with their mainstream beleifs which latter sumed up to be called Hinduism.
In 8th century persia was invaded by muslims, where zoroastrians were forced to pay high poll tax to fund arab jihad army and large group of poor zoroastrian farmers with their families made their way to east...landing on shores of india, where they seeked refuge and freedom to follow their religion...That was granted with few give and takes. Ever since Parsis in india have shown likeness for hindus and their customs...to a point where they have adopted hindu festivals and holy days into their customs.

Considering this, it would be so ironical if a zoroastrian woman marries a muslim. But leaving that aside mix marriages seldom succeed... esp in subcontinent and still worst with joint families...and esp between two ideologies with nothing much in common. My honest suggestion is, once infactuation is over, pratically this union is destined to doom ...better not go for it.

Out of curiosity, exactly how much were the persians forced to pay?
