Old cities of Pakistan, all the houses are attached so much so that even roofs are attached .. kids use to hop from roof to roof to play with each other …
even lots of romances flourished because of those attaced roofs.
I wonder if its still the same in those older nieghborhood ..
any one has any experience of visiting those neighborhood lately?
there r still such neighbourhoods both in lahore & karachi, have seen the ones in lahore , but i think it must be hard for families over there to maintain their privacy , not sure about romances & chats though..........lol
err i didn’t do any taar o taar, but i have climbed roofs. it was kinda rude to taap the chaats of neighbours you didn’t know. so as kids we had to do it chupay chupai. warna agar amma jee aur aunty ko kharab mil jaati to kutt parti. one house we lived, the two chhats were divided by this low wall. as a little kid i was super scared of climbing, but my cousins were regular monkeys, and i used to be really scared of it. but once i managed to figure out a way (and that way was the dangerous one, one little push and i would have fallen 2 stories ) it was the bestest feeling eva!
the other house can’t remember what the deal was with it.
chaats are also awesome for flying kites during basant. every khawar larka would be found on it, throughout the year. there would be taara taari too, so girls were strictly told not to go alone. and then there would be the giggle fest. rolleyes also, winters were pretty much spent either on terrace or chatt, with spread made of jute (what was it called? ) and maltay

Talking about privacy, Panjab's old neighborhoods used to have Bathrooms on th eroof, and some are not even covered form the top. Think of a single stroy house attached to double story house .. and if you look down form double stroy roof, one can see right into the other bathroom/toilet ..
SO any juicy encounters that you wnat to share with us on that ..
In Rawalpindi, I am guilty of watching girls on the other roof, NaHaa’oing in the rain (off course i did it chupte chupaate and grils were dressed … in cotton suits off course :p)
agar aaj larke larkiyan chatt pe naa jaate to kitnnee shadiyaan na ho paati ... kitne larkiyaan gharoN se bhaag na pati aur Kitne larkay, mohally waloN se pit naa paate ..
It would be a very boring society. During the pre-Bollywood age, that was the entertainment :p
