It is always encouraging to see the heads of all the main pillars of state - Excecutive and Judiciary, and well the Legislature speaking from the same page. Very healthy for democracy and constitutional rule.

CJ Iftikhar is a direct benefitor of the Musharraf system, and his very position on the Supreme Court is due to him swearing an oath on the PCO and the LFO-amended/17th Amendment inclusive constitution. If all that is taken away so is the CJ's job. :)

Only if CJ had thrown out the contempt petition. Itni jaldi kaahay kee meri jaan. I remember people were also very eager to hear the SC verdict about the reference and when it came, it took a long long time to digest that..and I am not sure if its been digested even now.

CJP says full term for parliament victory for rule of law

The imminent completion of parliament’s five-year term indicates there is supremacy of Constitution and rule of law in the country, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Saturday. “It’s a healthy sign that the parliament is completing its term for the first time in national history, and the democratic institutions are strengthening. This is a sign of supremacy of Constitution and rule of law in the country. I hope the democratic institutions will keep getting stronger,” he told a 60-strong delegation of the Youth Parliament.

CJ has kept true to his word.
