Re: Parents =\
which part of it is an issue to you? the inequality of the sexes or the not being able to go out.
You are right, you are not a child anymore. Have a grown-up discussion with your parents and try and compromise. In an adult fashion. Worked for me :)
Re: Parents =\
^ I can't. I just end up whining. Always.
Both are an issue.
Re: Parents =\
Its funny reading posts from Fatima and others cause My Parents neva put any limits on me apart from the fairly basic one's like halal and haram and no bois, e.t.c.........Sooo its funny reading all this cause they neva had any specific limits on me because I had done their job myself. Like i stopped going out with friends after a certain age, without my parents asking me to do so. I neva took any interest in guys sooo no questions there. After I turned 17 all new friends I made were Muslims and Pakistanis on top of dat.
Its funny. No complaints here. There is definatelly some age gap but no eneration gap b/w me and my parents cause they were brought up on the Air-force bases of Pakistan and I was brought up here. There isn't anything I know or see dat they
havn't in their times.
The best way to keep Peace is by refraining yourself from everything that **might **be of concern to them.
Like do keep your cell-phone turned on and with at u all times.
Do return well before mughrib.
Do tell them who you are going with.
Do all this before they ask you.
Re: Parents =\
They are only doing it for your behtary, they are concerned. Try to be in their good books all the time so they give you space. I have gone through the same thing and I am sure many others have too. Negotiate with them all the time for your rights. I know it is easy to lecture, I used to rebel alot. But rebelling is not the answer this provokes them. Be good and expect good. Good luck.
Re: Parents =\
Dont lie to them but always try to tell them what they want to hear it worked with me. I will clear again do not lie, it will only backfire.
Re: Parents =\
It's true what you said about the age gap, cultural gap and might I add generation gap as well. It's difficult for Indian/Pakistani parents to understand that things move on and change. But you can't blame them. Evryone loves to stick by their own ideas. You can just derive consolation from the fact that it'll be easier for ur own kid.
