It need not be confined to just curse/swear words. There are parents (desi and otherwise) who in anger will make fun of the way their kids look…which has nothing to do with argument at issue at hand. I remember a mom getting mad at her teenage daugther for something…and she’s gritting her teeth, yelling at her, calling her “ugly pimply face”…which had no relevance to the issue that sparked the conflict. Because such comments are more “specific” …they can be more hurful than a string of curse words, which tend to be “common” and vague, for a lack of a better word.

Thanks for bringing that up. Yup, that can be pretty damaging to the kid…more so than swaer words.
