Thats good that you want to get to know him when you get there, at least you will have given the guy a chance and if after meeting him your instincts tell you he isnt the one, then you can back out, at least then you will have a reason.
And the way I seen it was that, I was going to have to get married sometime or other, there was no point in knocking back a perfectly good rishta just because I felt I wasnt ready.
Before you go over try talking to him as much as you can so that things arent awkward when you get there. And tell him needs to learn English, whats he gonna do when he gets over here?

On a serious note I think you should talk to your parents about this, if you dont like the guy, or as you said you hate him and still you got married to him it wont be fair eigther to him nor to yourself.
