Yes Iconoclast this is true, words are always easier than actions. If you notice in the Quran, Allah SWT again and again reminds the children to be kind to their parents and show mercy to them. He does not tell the parents -this is something that comes naturally to a parent. But He reminds the children, because we forget and neglect. May we all always treat our parents in the best of ways, Ameen
Doing grocery for your parents, giving them time, company, money, listening to them are all important but i say that all these are easy part.
What i really call "taking care" is to carry them around when they cannot walk, to wash their feces and urine when they cannot do, to clean their mucus, to spoon feed them to bathe them.
Thats when it tells how much you can do for your parents.
I really realized this when i saw my grandfather this visit who needed everything care like a newborn child does. And despite the fact that he had 4 sons and tens of grandsons, it was only 3 people who actually "did" the real job.
I wish Allah saves me from being a burden on anyone.
