Parenting: Best practices and lesson learned.

Re: Parenting: Best practices and lesson learned.

Agree 100% with not bringing the toys from someone else’s house. we have a very good friend, and when my son used to their house to play they would send everything he liked with him, and if I insisted and said no, after we would come home, they used to send one of their kids to drop off the toys. initially I thought how nice etc..but my son started expecting the same from other families we used to visit and it was tough to take him off that habit.

One thing i learned was if u have said no to ur kid for something.you shud stand firm on Tht no.no matter what he/she does(including crying, screaming, throwing tantrums) u remain firm on ur no.
On the other hand…u dont Always have to stop kids from having fun or u dont Always have to say no.its ok to play in the water sometimes or for Tht matter play in the sand and get clothes dirty or have ice cream in winters.

Lesson learned: NEVER EVER EVER allow a baby’s bedtime to change for anything in the world!

My baby was sleeping well, nine pm every night till six am in the morning ( he is five months old) and two days in a row, guests came over and played with him past bedtime. Since then he won’t sleep again at that time. His day and night is mixed up and this is over two weeks ago. ARGH

I am LOVING this thread. As a very active father, I don’t have much to add to this. What delights me is that so many parents are actually involved with their children that they are actually posting here. Bless you all, I know there was a reason I joined GS other than the beejamaaloness.

Re: Parenting: Best practices and lesson learned.

aahmed, you are by one the BEST parents I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. so thank YOU for all your anecdotes and sharing..you’ve done an amazing job my friend!

Not only that he is one of the best dads of gs, he is also one of the best beejamaalo of GS. I love this guy and jealous of his popularity amongst the hot moms of gs.
