So on Saturday I went to the theater to watch the most-talked-about horror flick “Paranormal Activity”. It wasn’t scary as such but some scenes were really creepy… and the end was just awesome.
It got me thinking how many of you have actually experienced some kind of ‘paranormal activity’ in your lives? Things going bump in the night, unexplainable events, weird sounds?? Has anyone ever had such experiences first-hand?
I REALLY want to go see that movie, I LOVE scary paranormal type movies but they scare the living daylights out of me.
I'm a big guy, I'm not scared of much, I will jump head first into a fight, go investigate the house if begum thinks she heard a burglar, whatever, nothing scares me, well, nothing HUMAN. These scary movies turn me into a little girl but still I LOVE them. I'll watch a scary movie then not sleep for 3 nights. HAHAHAH.
We bought a house thats on a pretty busy street. We installed a high fence around the property and put childproof locks on the gates to counter the danger.
Every October, we find a ball - sometimes a soccer ball, sometimes basketball in the gutter right near our house. Every year without fail.
A few years after we moved in, we found out that a 6 year old boy was killed by a car, he lived in the house next to ours.
I think he was killed in Octoer and I think he was killed running after his ball which went into the street.
The creepiest thing is that there are no children other than mine on our street. There are kids fairly nearby ut not that close. No playgrounds or outdoor basketball hoops close by so theres really no explanation why these balls would show up and its so odd that its only in October and only one ball.
I have experienced a number of events. Both inside the house and outside.
My aunt tells me that many women from the paternal side of my family are "in tune" with those "beings" and their "activities" that the average person cannot see.
I used to be scared. Not so much anymore.
And yes...I love these movies but will not watch them alone.

Spooky.
Eeek. Really spooky!
Not sure if I'll go to see the movie. I like things that are scary, but I really hate gore. So if it's not too bloody I'll see it.
The only time I've had a weird experience was last summer. I stayed for the weekend at this old house out in the Hamptons that some friends were renting. In the middle of the night, I woke up to some very rhythmic tapping, almost like someone was tapping out the words of a song----it sounded like someone was right at the foot of the bed, tapping something against the wood floor of the room. It went on for about a minute and then stopped. Anyhow, I decided to just go back to sleep---I am blind without my contact lenses and was too creeped to sit up in bed, turn on the light, and to be blind for a minute while struggling to get my contacts in. I did fall back asleep, and in the morning when I woke up, I found the plastic cap from a water bottle on the floor at the foot of the bed. I guess it's possible that maybe a mouse or other creature was tapping the cap, but it was such a 'human' rhythm, if that makes sense. I told my friends later that day and they had all kinds of weird stories about the house---lights going on and off by themselves, etc.
My dad's side of the family has a lot of stories--my grandfather in particular has always had the reputation for being 'sensitive' to paranormal stuff. Back when my aunt was in college, her fiance was in the military, and she lived at home with my grandparents. One night when everyone was asleep, my grandfather (her dad) heard footsteps running suddenly down the hallway to his daughter's room, and a loud knock at her door. He got up to check things out but no one was there. Two days later, they got word that my aunt's fiance had been killed in a military training accident the day that he heard the knock.

OMG... you found the plastic cap at the food of the bed....... thats soooo creepy.
There's no blood or gore in the movie... there's no gross factor, its more a psychological thriller (sort of) but some scenes are too creepy, they will haunt you when you're alone at night or if you wake up in the middle of the night. It is definitely creepier than "The Others", but not as scary as "The Grudge" or "The Ring". Some parts were frankly too boring and some were downright funny.... all-in-all it was definitely entertaining.
i LOVE horror movies, they're my favorite genre of movies but i'm sorry, Paranormal Actvity SUCKED. i was so disappointed. that movie was hyped for no reason. i was trying really really hard to be scared during the movie but it didn't happen except in the last 5 minutes.
hehhehee.. Yeah Marwah, only the last 5 minutes were scary.... but you know what, last night I woke up twice and I couldn't get back to sleep, the dragged-from-the-bed scene kept playing in my mind and now I'm also scared of the guest bedroom in my house that has the attic opening :p
I've closed the doors of all the spare bedrooms and I'm definitely NOT leaving any doors open for at least a week :D Who leaves all their spare bedrooms with open doors anyways?? Weird!!!
^haha..awww. well you're married, aren't you? atleast you sleep next to your husband, that should help you from getting too scared. i have a hard time sleeping everytime i watch the "Exorcist". that movie gets me EVERY time..
I read the exorcist when I was a teen. I would follow my mother around the house like a puppy with my nose stuck in the book. My evil mom, one time she got annoyed at me following on her heels so she turned around and yelled "BOO!!". I screamed at the top of my lungs, the book went flying, I fell on my arse and almost had a heart attack lol!
And Marwah, it is scarier as I do have my husband sleeping next to me
He has a nasty habit of getting up in the middle of the night and going downstairs to get his laptop… I would be totally creeped out if I woke up and found him not there on the bed at 3:00 AM.
