Ohh puranay Lahoriyeh, Papay is "rus" or Rusk, but I think the term is mostly used in the south I mean Karachi.

I've only ever heard fraudia use that word.. I do think it means rusk. Now where is my inaam?

Rusk is the picture that was posted.

I think papay are papaR, those crispy fried thingies (the shape and size of puriaN) that you either eat alone or crush over dahi baRay. We bought them from Indian stores and they always had kalwanji seeds in them.

we have as much research in papay as these guys have with bagels. meethay papay, namkeen papay, papay with zeera, gol papay, cake walay papay, regular papay, dawn ke industrialised wahiyat papay, papay jinki puri ek side crust hoti thi, waghera waghera. karachi mein i know this bakery that specialized in papay :-)
