cheegy - I wasn’t aware we had a national dress. If so, please refer me to the gov’t documents stating so.
Fashion is something that comes and goes. For now, pants are in. 
Dude, I say wear whatever you want. I personally love pants over shalwaars.
However, now they’re making kali-less shalwaars which I think look really intelligent. They’re so much better than the aunty-type baggy baggy shalwaars. And so much easier to move around in.
