Palak paneer with tofu

 It’s good :yummy: Anyone tried it?

i have a recipe somewhere, i think… instead of adding cheese, i think you add tofu instead. And some whipped cream at the end. Sounds like a bizarre recipe, but it’s really good. i’ll post the recipe once i find it.

The local grocery store here
sells that, although it's frozen.
We have talked about trying it
several times but have yet to give it a shot.
Is it really that good???

I dont like tofu (at all) :(

wats tofu?

^ bean curd .. :-)

tofu = yum yum, specially with sweetend coconut milk with crushed ice :)

I had heard so much about tofu that I decided to give it a try…Everyone I heard tofu from said its so delicious…

So anyways one day when I decide to go shopping I brought a brick or a loaf or whatever you call it, of tofu and spread it in lumps on my toast like cheese…I assumed since it looks like hard cheese it might be something similar in taste…

Needless to say, one bite almost made me throw up…It was horrible…:yukh:

It was later I discovered that tofu is actually like a catalyst during cooking…It has no taste it’s after you introduce it into something that it develops a taste…

So if it’s palak paneer with tofu, I am sure it must taste great and rich…:tummy:

Sehri in half an hour…

I love tofu

It’s always a delight to order some food and find tofu in there.

Tofu by itself is tasteless. I love tofu in masala or fried tufu in chinese noodles with stir fried vegetables is good too.

nadia i know what u r talking abt yaar

i have had that and its delicious :yummy:

u have to cut the tofu in small cubes and fry it in oil first before adding it to the palak to make it taste good

can u post the recipe on here? sounds good :yummy:

but last time i tasted tofu it was so bland :bummer:

hmmm..Xara...yaar make it the same way as u make palak paneer but instead of paneer just add fried tofu...

u could also put masalay * on the tofu before frying and leave it in there for some time...

and cut the tofu into small pieces...

and also u can poke holes in the tofu with a knife and put masala inside...

ive never made this myself so not sure but it seems like its worth a try

if u end up making it do let us know how it turns out :)*

whoa i didn’t think anyone replied to this thread  i’ll get the recipe from my Ammi, and i’ll post it up for you Xara. i think Irem is right, you cut it into small cubes and add the already-fried tofu chunks. Tofu by itself can be tasteless, but when it’s added into something like Roshnie stated, it’s surprisingly really good.

Lajawab, lolz no wonder that tasted awful  It’s like eating keralay without cooking it or something  Try it when it’s been fried and then added to something… quite good. And quite nutritious too i think

Aalhan, It WAS really good, honestly. i am pretty finicky about what dishes i eat, but this one - i really enjoyed it. Sorry about not posting up the recipe, i’m such an idiot :smack: i’ll ask my mother then i’ll put it up here.

Nadia did you forget???

LOL... oh my God.

:o By Monday, Insha'Allah, i'll have it up here. i'm not at home right now so i can't ask my mum for it...

gosh i'm an airhead. i'm sorry.

Re: Palak paneer with tofu

I found this recipe online and tried it since i luv palak paneer like crazy....

Palak Paneer

Ingredients

3 bunches of Palak(spinach)
1 Onion (chopped finely)
1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
10 Green Chillies
1 cup Milk
2 tbsp Cream
1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tbsp Kasuri Methi (dry fenugreek leaves)
500 gms of diced paneer (or Tofu cubes)
2 big Tomatoes (chopped finely)

Method

  1. Clean and wash palak nicely. Chop palak.
  2. Boil palak and chopped green chillies for 10 mins. Cool and grind to a fine paste. Roast Kasuri methi on a tava for half a min (see that you don't burn it) and powder it by rubbing it between your palms.
  3. In a kadai fry onion till brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for sometime.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and fry till oil shows on top. Add palak paste and Kasuri methi and fry. Add milk. Add garam masala powder and 2 tbsp cream and paneer/Tofu diced. Add salt. Cook for 5 mins.
  5. Before serving add 1 tbsp of butter (optional).
  6. Serve hot with Parathas or Naans.
