Living as they do in a conservative, Muslim-dominated society where pre-marital sex is a religious taboo, many Pakistani women are going under the knife for hymen reconstruction surgeries to regain their lost virginity before marriage. Just look up advertisements in English newspapers or websites or the walls of shops on busy street corners in cities like Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, offering women a chance to shroud their past with a recreated hymen - and you’ll know. Woho! What are your thoughts on this very alarming yet interesting piece of news?
Yeah but wherever it happens it shows how ****ed the world is becoming.
I can see only one positive thing in it which is it gives some hope to women who were raped, and it wasn't thier fault... then i suppose it's a valid exception.
But i bet 90% of the cases are loose cannons who should have known better.

True. Its sad. I was thinking/hoping pre-marital sex was not that common here but i guess it is.
OR, looking at it from the other side, if people didn't have such a backwards attitude towards sex and "virginity" the hymen-repair wouldn't be necessary.

Huh?! Each to their own but are you trying to say virginity shouldnt be emphasised on?

I am inclined to disagree however i must say this is most ammusing for there are whole nations being slaughtered as we speak whats one more wreckless life in this pot of fury we call the world.
However yes i guess this is a multi faceted topic and i await the replies… no doubt there will be many who will disagree with my view but lets see how they articulate themselves…
Not all women bleed the first time they have sex but that doesnt mean they’re not virgins but people who think virgnity = bleeding from the hymen being torn would assume the girl isn’t a virgin.
not to mention there is no wayt ot ell if a guy is a virgin, so how fair is that?
What you said before and what you are saying rite now are two different issues. When did i say it was rite to term a women as a non-virgin if she doesnt bleed?! Huh. I also think its stupid and an act of jahils!
And lets not make each n every topic a man vs women thingy. Give it a break.
it’s a backward thing…some women who play vigorous sports have a broken hymen as well…sports like tennis, or maybe cycling…
this practice of reconstructing it may be good and bad as well…i wont go into the bad side as i myself dnt knw:@:…but yeah it’s good, as someone said it’s and advantage for victims of rape, and for those women who have done mistakes in the past and now have repented…an obstacle(shouldnt exist though) cleared for a good start for them
In the case of any male loose cannons i think yeha they should pay for damages… i’m the sort if my brother were such a loose cannon i would make him regret he was born…
and if i ever saw he was even attempting the raping of a girl regardless of wether the girl was blatantly asking for it or not… i would take him out… although it would be a quick death.
I am very old fashioned i suppose and perhaps a barbarian if you say so but you can’t say i dont live by rules like em or not thier rules and principles i live by and more than one i’ve owed my life to my principles.
Is this what people are making it out to be? Last time I checked, virginity was about the purity of a woman’s character and chastity. Virginity might as well be a social construct. Whether or not it is possible to tell if a guy is a virgin or otherwise is in no way relevant to the issue at hand. You can bang as many guys as you want if you’re blessed with a rock (well, hypothetically speaking) for hymen, but the question remains - will you still be desirable enough to be able befit the characteristics of a faithful spouse, wife? That’s just like engaging in the ‘‘premarital dirty’’ and flaunting that ‘‘pretend-virgin’’ tag of yours. I know who you did last summer. Yep, I still know.

I suspect it is not so common practice as you might be thinking.
The amount of advertisement does not tell if it is really a common practice.
A lot of people still hold values and physical virginity is respected by girls.
Also the respect for virginity or expectations that a girl would have intact hymen is not so uncommon in other countries or religions.
By the way you are quoting the same text of this 'news' which is all over google searched sites.
^most of us here are just making their points, and blending a lot of other issues here. i dont think anyone’s supporting the act of zina or anything like that.
everyone is allowed to discuss and give their input with regards to this topic but giving personal opinions specially such that might instigate an unwanted argument or derailing of thread is not appreciated.
