Pakistan’s test x1 formed with contracted players excluding the ICL group will look something like this, assuming for now no new signings.
Salman Butt (VC)
Yasir Hameed
Younis Khan
Faisal Iqbal
Shoaib Malik *
Shahid Afridi
Kamran Akmal +
Shoaib Akhtar
Umar Gul
Danish Kaneria
Mohammed Asif
That is pitiful batting. I mean Hameed and Iqbal may play off for a place if Nazir gets the nod, but that is so weak. I have never seen an international top order devoid to class like that one. As it stands Younis Khan is the only world class batsman in that line up, with Malik the second best player.
The bowling is strong, it remains our first pick.
I hope for the sake of Pakistani cricket that some talented youngsters are unearthed from the domestic structure and they adapt to test cricket quickly.
India, Australia and South Afica coming up this home season. Any confidence I had has slipped, the batting is too weak. Even if they escape humiliation at home, on those flat tracks, overseas that line up will be skittled.
There’s no doubting Younis’s class.. he’s the among the top batsmen in the world.
There could possibly be more defections to ICL in the coming days. Those who haven’t defected must be having second thoughts. Players like Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Asif could all possibly go to ICL.
Butt is the VC. He's going to open even if the other lads all returned. Its pathetically weak for a test team top 7. Akmal should come up, he's better then Iqbal...

In short, wait for U-19 players to grow up and enter the national team. They have done quite well in World Cup and overseas in England and Australia. There is hope.
Its a shame that there nation means so little to them. Dont see any big Indians calling it a day as far as there intl careers are concerned.
hmmm so that means nation means so little to us (overseas Pakistanis) who are serving FARANGI COUNTRIES with our skills rather than our own country just for the sake of money.... hmmmmmmmm
......and furthermore i guess Education commission in Pakistani should have a rule that if you get your education in Pakistan you can only work in Pakistan, if you get a job overseas, your degree will be canceled and you will never be able to take any job in Pakistan,......hmmmmmmmm
Bhai mairey, PCB is an entity who is giving "Job" to cricketers and if cricketers are able to find some "Part Time Job (ICL)" with the full time job at PCB, why should PCB bother? Try to get to the facts before you speculate. ICL agreement allow Cricketers to serve their country needs if required just like County.
As far as Indian cricketers are concerned, they are getting paid enough already i guess. Its going to be hard for ICL to match that !

That's true....a grade 1 centrally contracted player in India earns Rs 8 lac per month. In Pakistan it's about a third of that i.e. Rs 3 lac. hence there is less incentive for big names in India to join ICL.

Other jobs arent performed at the representative level for the nation. Someone can be a teacher, but he is not representing Pakistan as the state when he goes to work. International sportsmen are playing for there nations, and that should be paramount.
Why has no other non retired national player from any other state signed up?
PCB governs the game is Pakistan, but the team does indeed take the field as the representative of the Pakistani state in the game of cricket. Otherwise someone could create a second administrative bosy, say Pak Cricket Council, and legitimately field a side-but thats not possible as the PCB is the licensed representative body of Pakistan in intl cricket.
