According to Geo headlines Mohammad Asif is out of the team as well, didn't say if it was due to "injury" or some other reason.

I think it is a mistake to drop Afridi. Dont know if Kaneria has a new mystery ball developed for this series, but he has typically been pretty ineffective. Afridi for Kaneria just on bowling alone might not be so far fetched. Any runs he scores would be an added bonus.

awesome....sami has been performing really well since Oval Test. Great tour against Sout Africa. Inshallah he will be a great help for Akhtar, who considers him as match winner.

I think you are right, his elbow injury is not cleared yet for which he is going to Australia to get scanned for. The headline news didn't mention about it and I wasn't aware that he hasn't recovered... hence the post.

This time Sami is coming back after performing in domestic so his recall is legitimate, hopefully he remains in-form and will be able to partner Akhtar well.

Dropping Afridi a big mistake IMO considering the immense role he played in the win in the decider in 2005

Kaneria is not really a match-winning spinner. He is very over-rated as a bowler. He has to bowl something like 40-50 overs to get 2-3 wickets but this time he might get some cheap wickets at a reasonable SR because of the pressure applied by Akhtar from the other end.
