Hmmmm..Happy Independence day, indeed!
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
some sentences that caught my eye in this story aside from the obvious part about him resigning are.
1-Pakistan's powerful army had insisted Musharraf's demands be met.
2- heightened concerns in the United States and among its allies about
the stability of Pakistan,
a nuclear-armed Muslim state that is also
a hiding place for al Qaeda leaders.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
lol..yeah..Army will still be in charge..whether there's a civilian president or not..for U.S. officials..they would rather deal with Mush than a governing civilian body..
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
Actually, little impact would it have on the way things are going in Pakistan.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
No surprise there, of course. Many of us have speculated this is exactly how this will play out.
It WILL be a big surprise, though, if this impeachment circus actually gets to a vote in the Parliament.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
Nawaz Sharif today lashed out at a massive rally and focused on not giving Musharraf a safe passage. I hope this coward Musharraf doesnt resign, and faces impeachment, and then held accountable.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
It is all nothing but posturing to get the best deal out. At the end of the day, NS and everyone else will agree for "larger national interests" or some other such politically correct phrase....
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
zardari is still on the impeachment case though, hes acquired 5 more senators just now, belong to JI, through Qazi.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president

Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
Truely sad!
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
The latest word in all US media is that some Govt. Officials and one of the people from Musharraf's inner circle has said, he will resign by Sunday evening. A deal has been brokered, he would like to retire to his Farmhouse in Islamabad. He will not face any charges once he steps down and he will be looked over as a bad part of Pakistan's recent history. Period.
How true it is, we'll find out in just 2 days.
Here's my perspective on the whole scenario:
I'm all for his resignation. Frankly he should have been impeached the very week new Govt. came into power, but oh well....
I am NOT in the favor of anyone forcing him out of the country. He is a Pakistani citizen and has all the right to stay in his home country. No matter what.
This exile culture has just got to stop. Pakistan has to absorb its ex-politicians and allow them to stay within the country so they have a chance to rectify their mistakes. Miracles do happen. Today he's regarded as a dictator turned President, tomorrow he might have an awakening and become the biggest charity personnel the country has seen.
We have got to stop sending our ex-officials to live in other countries. It has become a joke. Let him stay in Pakistan, give him due process, Justice starts with those who have been unjust and set an example that will be followed by generations to come.
It doesnt look like he will resign.
RAWALPINDI: President Pervez Musharraf on Friday accused Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif of creating political instability in the country.
He expressed his views in meeting with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the President Camp office today. Issue of president’s impeachment also came under discussion in the meeting.
The president said he would not resign on this occasion and said he was elected by the Parliament as President for five years and would continue to play his constitutional role for the country.
President Musharraf said he would face the impeachment motion of the ruling coalition. Chaudhry brothers assured the president of their full cooperation and support in this regard.
Meanwhile, PML-N spokesman rejected allegations of President Musharraf against Nawaz Sharif and said people were aware who was responsible for this political chaos.
“President has already been impeached on February but few formalities are now left,” he added.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
That farmhouse was obtained illegally and there is no way he should be allowed to live there.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
Did any one read hamid Mir report in Jang today.. As an insight, Israel PM has made agreement with Turkey for MUsharaf safe exile to Turkey.
I dont think he is going to retire. Musharaf is a stubborn dumbass who never understands the writings on the wall.. He is a dictator always, and none of our dictators have left easily.
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
Mashallah, the only support our dictator seems to be getting is from Israel and India. :)
Re: Pakistan’s Musharraf to resign as president
For all those who can read Urdu and are interested to know the Israel/India/Turkey connection
Re: Pakistan's Musharraf to resign as president
to all those who are questioning the israeli connection....Maybe we should go back to the days of thinking them as our enemies....until Musharraf opened our eyes
