Pakistan's failing ISI/agencies

While the capital burns, Pakistan’s agencies are busy harassing innocent citizens and secular politcians!

The ISI needs to be reformed form top to bottom, their priority must be national security, not how much money, power and properties then can amass!

DAWN - Kamran Shafi Corner; September 09, 2008

Stop Press: Just this last Sunday, friend Amina Piracha, former MNA of the PPP, took a foreign journalist to show her the site of the Rawalpindi Jail where Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was judicially murdered. The prison cell in which he spent his last days and which was a shrine of sorts where people placed flowers and paid their respects had been demolished.

As the journalist was taking photographs of this ‘park’ the two women were accosted by four men in shalwar kameez who asked them to go away and not come back until they had got permission from Major Someone-Or-Other at 10 Corps HQ. When Amina, the fighter that she is, remonstrated with them asking what the army had to do with a park that belonged to the Rawalpindi Development Authority, one of them identified himself as an ISI man and said he was just doing his duty.

Golly, what an arduous counter-intelligence task, keeping people away from the site of ZAB’s death cell! No wonder the ISI has no time to look for terrorists. Good luck, Mr President, you need it!

After hearing the late Faraz Ahmed's last main interview on Capital Talk, I cant help but think one thing. Faraz always spoke the bitter truth, no matter how harsh it was. He said that seems like our army is there to just attack, kill, and scare our own people, and when they face an enemy force, 'shikast kha jatey hain'. These armed forces officers think they are some sort of khuda in Pakistan, and go around dictating civilians. They remain quiet while other countries block our rivers, invade our lands, question our soveriengty but when someone from our own country dares pay tribute to a leader like Bhutto, they'll be there to show their might.

Re: Pakistan's failing ISI/agencies

what one fears is if the plan of downsizing intelligence/security apparatus at US behest went ahead it will lead to greater internal turmoil...a typical blowback effect will just rock the country. But the inevitable must be done...We Muslims and Pakistanis deserve peace of mind and bodies....We cannot make Muslims stronger by tolerating terrorism.

Although I do not condone what happened here, I do not understand people who give such exalted status to ZAB as if he was some kind of a saint or noble person. He was educated, smart and intelligent but it's also true that he was a crook of the highest degree who was implicated in several political murders and who did not do jack for the country, besides was principally responsible (not the army, not anyone-else) for dividing Pakistan. As they say what goes around comes around

Only Jinnah DESERVES such exalted status and honour in Pakistan

Blind hatred is bad. Yes he was not a saint but did he do anything for Pak? remember nuclear bomb? as for dividing the country yes the primary responsibility for that was the army, not Bhutto. But than Imran is the answer to Paksitan's all ills. Nuff said.

Yes I do not feel any shame in admitting that I have deep reservations about PPP or the Bhuttos. They are all self-seeking crooks and bhai military was demoralised then....besides it was his not the military's responsibility to accept the election result gracefully and hand over power to Mujeeb

Imran may not be the answer to our ills but he is clearly more honest and sincere than the present lot. Whether or not he will ever assume any such office in future and be able to deliver only time will tell

And while Bhutto may have initiated our nuclear programme, the real credit goes to AQ Khan (not a saint himself, very corrupt etc.) among others

I have rejected this feeling for quite a while but recent incidents just seem to confirm that Pakistan has been sold by some main characters in ISI. Sold to the 'bigger agencies'.

Making it a part of india is probably not entirely an indian desire. I think the bigger agencies have made some main guys at ISI to agree to help them achieve this goal. Guys with main control of ISI. Who are they?

Because due to Pakistan's 'strategic location', the benefits generated from this region would be much higher if it was merged with india. So, these officials at ISI are offerred some 'rewards' for helping these outer elements to obtain their goal (of merging the two countries). Will these guys really be happy with these 'rewards' since they getting them by selling their souls?

To help these foreign elements for achieving this goal, these traitors of Pakistan have made life so tough for an average Pakistani, the place so dangerous to live that every single Pakistani would cry out and say, "Oh God! I do not wish to remain a Pakistani." - Exactly what a Pakistani outside the Marriott commented today after the blast while he cried and exactly what indians have, dreamed of for a long time, Pakistanis doing.

This was another show put together, so conveniently by the 'foreign elements' with the help of 'local elements' (Just like Zia's assasination). A Pakistani 9/11 - A planned destruction. These guys are making the indian dream come true.

Pakistanis who can so coldbloodedly watch their fellow Pakistanis die. Are they really humans? They might not be answerable to anyone in this world but will these murderers be able to save themselves in the God's court?

May God save all the innocents from this bloody war caused by the greedy barbarians amongst us. Which is taking turns...recurring in different countries.

I think Im done with trying to keep hope.......... There is just no hope. People comitting heinous acts for money, power. Or are they doing this out of fear? What kind of fear?

Enough really. . Maybe we should just go find solace elsewhere and let these greedy barbarians have the piece of chunk out of their motherland.

If needed, maybe the common citizens will give their lives and blood to save the land till the last breath. It is not our 'strong guys' that we are proud of. No. Those supposed to 'save' the citizens are made to kill them. I dont know where we are headed and I dont care anymore.

I agree politicians are not good, but the problems that country is facing are militarys making. Every time some terrorist jihadi blows up somethings like today the blame squarely lies at army's feet. They created this monster & not the politicians.

Re: Pakistan's failing ISI/agencies

How ISI and Army exactly failing Pakistan in nutworld of saints politicians of Pakistan? If army gets the blame always even in civilian government, whats the purpose of civilian rule?

ISI is doing very best for the Pakistan so as Pakistan Army, without them Pakistan cant survive a day or two.

ISI was created by the CIA. If we take a look at their overall track record, they have done nothing but create trouble for our own people, and bring a bad rep to our country. They have a big role to play as far as selling Pakistanis.

I am sure we can survive without a rogue intelligence agencies, which runs parallel to our civilian Govt.

its a fact that country was split into two primarily because of your beloved bhutto's "idher ham, udher tum" doctrine. How can you talk about unity when there are such selfish leaders.

You hit the nail right on the head. Without armys dunda these SOBs will cut Pak right from the middle, one for Ganja and the other for Jardari.

Just a day or two ago you were asking the army where to head to fight for the country.... what happened in a day or two?

Only if you have studied little history you would know that Bhutto played minimum part in breakup of Pakistan. The seeds of disintegration were sowed by Ayoub & the clowns in the army decade before country split apart.

Also, the reason country is where it is today b/c of corrupt traitor generals & their involvement in politics...economic mismanagement, to institutional instability, to creating religious/non-religious terrorist groups, to outright thievery, our brave generals have hands in it.

bhutto was not the leader when East Pakistan seperated, so we cant really blame him. I think it was a collective effort, everyone, including the military played its part. We (the people) started it, the military finished it off for us.

I agree. if he had given mujeeb the government we'd still have been together. though part of teh blame goes to our Army and the west pakistani leaders right from the time of Ayub. in any case i cant see what was logical about being " the second majority party". either you are in majority or in minority. there is no second majority.

Re: Pakistan's failing ISI/agencies

^^

Any thing goes wrong BLAME ISI or Army this is the norm of today.

Incompatible Politicians/Advisers are saints hence have no responsibility what so ever, It was said yesterday in GEO that the information was clear about this incident!!! but what measure did the govt. took to stop it, a truck and a Suzuki with 1000 KG of explosives were on the roads of capital city on the day when Zardari had to address the joint session of the parliment??? how come no body saw these two vehicles???

Jusgt blaming somebody or some institute for the sake of blaming is not a positive act by any means, i must say people blaming ISI or ARMY for this are totally influnced by the propoganda of west and our enemies.

No body speaks out about our enemies, who are there looking after and working on all aspects to destabalize our country, but every thing from Al-Qaida to Taliban is blamed to ISI???

ISI did created Taliban and CIA created Al-Qaida, why no body blame them???

RAW created and is funding BLA, no body speaks about them, only ISI is blamed!!!

if anyone to be blamed then it is our politiciains and us, we voted for these politicians, again and again... thinking that they have changed.. we are truly a nation of fools...

Damn, right. Anyone know an actual person in the ISI? Anyone?

First the US takes over Afghanistan, then ATTACKS FATA..the question is whose war are we fighting?

I say its time for Pakistan to support the true Afghans and kick the damn Amrikis out. Pakistani blood is not cheap.

Re: Pakistan's failing ISI/agencies

.

Exactly. No one else has the cojones to step up.
