You know whats even funny. For a guy to have sex with a girl, he has to be 18 and the girl can be 16.
Right now get this, but for marriage a guy has to be 18 and the girl can be 14 lol so if you marry a girl who is 14 and you have sex with her then you'll be braking the law - anyone notice the contradiction?

Yeah, there is a law for that. You can’t have sex outside marriage its considered a crime against the state. However what is mind boggling is, you can marry a girl at 14 and and have sex with her. Or maybe its supposed to mean you can marry a 14 year old girl but can have sex with her until shes 16 which would not make any sense.
Right basically its like this, if you have sex with a girl who is 16 then and you’re not married to her then, you’re pretty save you’ll get fined. However if you have sex outside of marriage with a girl who is under 16 then you’re in trouble. Unless you’re married to her! what a dumb ass law.
And I’ve studied law for two years, and they expect a layman to know this.

Pakistan carries over very much the traditions of "Hindustan"... where girls used to get married as early as 4-5 years, yeah, but consummation took later on. So these laws are just covering those scenarios. BTW, how are these laws "helping" in prostitution, care to elaborate on that?

Actually, I would have married her, at the age of 16 however I think I’ve been short changed her family told me, the girl has to be 18 or the molvi Saab will not do the nikka. And now I see the constitutional law of Pakistan states otherwise.

Look at the punishments for them:
‘Punishment of causing, encouraging or abetting prostitution of a girl under sixteen (16)’, Section 7 of the ‘Pakistan Suppression of Prostitution Ordinance, 1961’
‘If any person having custody, charge or care of any girl under the age of sixteen (16) years causes or encourages or abets the seduction or prostitution of that girl, he shall be published with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, and with a fine which may extend to one thousand rupees and if the person convicted is a male, shall also be liable to whipping.’
Now we are talking about a girl under 16. 3 years and a 1000 rup fine. And getting whipped in extream cases. Now that dosen’t seem like a very harash law does it?

^ prostitution is still a problem in countries where the laws are more severe, so its not the light punishment that is helping it.

The legal age for marriage (with parents approval) in Quebec, Canada is also 14 for femals and 16 for males. The age of the consent for sex is 16. Those Pakistani laws are nothing shocking.

I highly doubt that is true. The Quebec law is based on a Civil Code, the rest of Canada is based on Common Law. So, unless Common Law allows for marriage at 12 years of age, which I doubt, then there’s no way that town would be able to permit it.

The age of consent is 16 for female for the purpose of sex, only & only to constitute "simple zina" anyone committing zina with a girl under 16 even with her consent would be considered "Ziba-bil-jabr".
Buy Hadood Ordinance & read it with all foot notes before calling any law crappy, dont judge the book by its cover.
