Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Ok, so I made a little mistake over the CJ… I was actually citing another article I read a while back. Mahf kur dho.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Thats Karachi... Not Punjab.. In Karachi every body hates every body else...

Lets not forget that Musharaf has been brought to power through support of that oh so Punjabi institution, the Pak Army...

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Yes, those punjabis “came” from Punjab with all the punjabi accents! So you can tell some of the punjabi mindset.

It is not that punjabis actually settled in karachi are always that better. I have had punjabis joke with me about mahajirs being matarwa, bhayya because they thought my family was from Punjab! :hehe: We are quite tall and my dad can speak fluent punjabi due to his days in Punjab University and PAF school Sargodha!

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Because it was mutual interest back then and the Army [every general] doesn't want the perks and influence they have to go down! But you can't deny the fact that Musharraf did a lot in return including working on kalabagh dam and bhasha dam whose immediate beneficiary is Punjab more than anyone!

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Yeah, but a Punjabi in Karachi generally has to live in a society that is run by Mohajirs… They would have a bias, not present in Punjabis living in Punjab.

And just because some Punjabis indulge in such language, doesnt prove that they hate Mohajirs in general. There are Mohjirs who harbor stereotypes about Punjabis, but I doubt they hate them…

And your telling me that you have NEVER heard any kind of similar language coming from Mohajirs? Come on!

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Maybe... So when they the Punjabis supported him, its was because he supported them...

Now that they no longer do, what has Musharaf done that is no longer mutually beneficial, and thus raised the ire of Punjabis?

But still, if Pujabis hate Musharaf for being Mohajir, how did he rise to power to begin with? Someone like him, a Mohajir, would never have been allowed to become a major let alone Chief of Army staff, and then supreme leader of all Pakistan... The Mutually beneficial part only came after he was in power...
And obviouly, he wasnt mistreated in the Army, as he was obviously moved when he stepped down, and claimed the Army to be his life and love. For Mohajir that saying alot if your accusing Punjabis of being bias towards Mohajirs no?

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

So far Punjab is the only province where a non-punjabi party has won the majority and formed a government.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

PML has won seats in Sindh as well!

Some say he is a genius at math [one time he did solve a question like 444 * 13 right away on a program] but sometimes slips happen. We have had Colin Powell lead the American army but that doesn't mean that Blacks are equal to whites in america or there is no racism against non-whites in America!

If you had tried to make that point about pathans, then i would have half agree with you..

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

and what made you think that. I am sure that majority of Pak Army is from Punjab but they still support Musharraf ..... what do you make of that ?

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

sheik, winning seats isnt what im talking about. Did PML ever form a govenrment in sindh on their own? they couldnt even do that in NWFP either. Whereas PPP on its VERY OWN formed a govt in Punjab in 1993. The people there voted for a Sindhi Party, because they felt at that time, that it was the right party for them. Needless to say they were proven to be wrong later by BB's performance in her second term.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Read what Shriek said... And skim through what people have said so far to get an idea of where we are before posting...
Thanks.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

I don't even know how PPP passes itself as a sindhi party [biggest fraud of our time] but are feudals who have nothing to do with the nationalist sindhis like sindhudesh. Punjab hasn't had a charismatic leader like Bhutto [hence PPP still bagging seats forcing PML to from alliance with MQM back in the day].

Plus, the elections were probably rigged? so who knows what really happened.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

PPP doesnt pass itself as a sindhi party, infact they woudlnt want to do that, just like how MQM wouldnt want them to label themself as the mohajir quami movement anymore… But the point is, PPP is headed by a Sindhi leader, and on those lines its a Sindhi party.

And yeah, sure the elctions were rigged :hehe:, what about the other rigged elections, why didnt the PML[N] get majorities in other provinces?

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

We will see jab pervez kiyani gul khilai ga! :hehe:

PS Do you even know what does the army’s complete exit from politics entails for all the generals and their henchmen? Is hammam me sab nange hain! Though, I am kind of suprised [but maybe not] that even a lot of people have come to despise army in Punjab due to their overzealous arch over Pakistan. I think this is what is causing worries for the army now..

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

MQM did just that [esp after the "operations" in the nineties] until it became "Muttahida" a couple of years back and altaf married a gabol [though gabol is from mom's side so technically she is a punjabi].

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

What happened to her? I heard she left altaf and said that he was harassing her? There are also reports that all her jewellery went into MQM (altaf’s fund)?

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

p.s. read the second part of my last post about election rigging, so i did prove to you how punjab was the only province thats elected a non punjabi party to majority.

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

Biwi barre pose marre hain! :hehe: Trust pakistanis to put in indian songs too!

Re: Pakistanis support politicians for their nationality, not actions

I dont know which part of the Karachi are you talking about ....when I left Karachi (98) most of my friends were from Punjab (living in Karachi) and we never hated each other ......

The way you have generalized this sensitive issue just shows your carelessness and thinking :)
