Pakistan would b paying about 12-13 Rs/unit for coal based power as well. Some how our governments cannot negotiate a deal in our favour.The government is asking the regulator to factor-in increase the cost of production and decrease in efficiency. Yep, less electricity at higher rates.

Investors for the power plants (which Sharifs had been signing up left, right and center, and boasted of billions in investment) have been guaranteed returns of upto 30+% on the dollar…which essentially means that if and when the rupee deteriorates, this percentage will increase as well. There are reports that a lot of these investments will be made by ‘friendly folks’. And yes, this will come out of the consumer’s pockets…and yes, circular debt will be our friend for years to come.
