Re: Pakistani's, Opportunism & double standards
I wish it was as simple as "politicians letting Army in......". For some reason we all have short memories. It was only recently that is in late 1990s, every Tom, Dick, and Harry of our political establishment was hell bent on one thing. Just one thing. You know what was that?
Here is a clue! It wasn't the supremacy of the political system they [politicians] were after...
It wasn't the constitution they wanted to hold high.....
Their objective was just one! Bring down the gd@maned government of Nawaz Sharif. Mullahs and Ayatullahs, Mohajirs or non-Mohajirs, BB or Mr. 10% everyone was chanting in unison that Nawaz must be brought down and dragged through the streets. They all were actively and overtly begging the military to come in and kick out an elected government.
Long marches or a threat to launch one, were the order of the day. Military Aa Ja! Fauji Aa Ja! were the slogans.
This was all based on knowing fully well, that military comes when politicians beg for it. Military goes only when generals are ready for it.
Aaana politicians ki marzi say, jaana fauj ki marzi say (Army comes when politicians beg for it, Army goes when the generals are sick and tired of running the country).
Easy to forget history baby, easy to forget.
