Do you think Pakistanis would be more respected as Pakistanis if they were more wealthy and educated?
I find Indians to be the more respected of the two, and I’m wondering if its because of the difference in wealth/education.

Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Sorry, the title is supposed to read Education, not Educated.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
How can you brush such broad groups in just one stroke? There are many wealthy, educated (and well-respected) Pakistanis. Just as there are all kinds of Indians.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Yes superficial dumbass Pakis will kiss anyones ass who seems to be "above" them on the socioeconomic ladder...wealthy and education doesn't make you more deserving of any respect...sometimes the most jahil and ghatiya thinking ppl are those with Masters Degrees or boatloads of paisey.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Are you kidding me PCG? Everyone knows Pakistanis have better Ikhlaq than Indians and are less materialistic. Ofcourse we're respected more!
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
hmm who says pakistanis arent all that already?
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Give me a few 7-11s and a Few Yellow Cabs (you know the medallion costs about $250,000) in NY.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
I don't think wealth has anything to do with it. We suffer from what I call "korea-japan" syndrome. Just like they are confused with being chinese all the time, we are confused with being indian. If you are talking about the americans thinking indians are more "sophisticated" or something like that, I sincerely think that when they say indian, what they mean by that is anyone who is a brown asian. If I am not mistaken, pakis in america are doing quite well, the situation in UK is quite the opposite, pakis there have a high rate of poverty. But I do think that americans are more inclined to befriend a indian than a paki. They didn't drive a plane in to WTC like we did. No matter what they say to our faces, I really believe that americans really hate and fear us american muslims.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Look..Most Pakistanis on a whole wear the religion bit on their sleeves too heavily and thus have issues integrating completely and thereby taking advantage of the "system". Indians on the other hand adapt more easily because religion is simply an aspect of their livelihood. Therefore you see Indians on the whole doing much better in the US than Pakistanis.
Of course there are exceptions but you will not find a thread on an indian forum where there is a four page discussion on whether meeting your colleagues in a bar (even if your don;t drink) after work is haraam or not.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Also there are many not-so-well educated but filthy rich and highly respected Pakis in Amreeka as well.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
that is quite true…
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
in Pak we call that being a “lota” ![]()
a rolling stone gathers no moss. at the end of the day people respect you for doing what you consider is right, not just changing your values to ADAPT to another culture.
from my experience Americans too appreciate Pakistanis who are more traditional and actually represent Pakistan than the ones who say goodbye to their traditions and diss their homeland just to assimilate.
culture and tradition is something that is appreciated worldwide i think.
as for respect: the bottom line is, if you respect someone they will respect you too
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
I agree with Irem. All Saudis should keep their culture and not let their women drive, even outside of Kingdom.
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
atlanta i've been confusing you with atlantis and wondering how you went from decent patriotic pakistani to an india sycophant.
why cant you folks choose better names?
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
PCG, your theory is full of holes. For educated Pakistanis, there’s no respect even in Pakistan, look what kind of treatment the most educated Pakistani ever got in Pakistan (I am talkin bout the only muslim scientist ever to have won Noble prize) and he was wealthy too, and he wasn’t a thief like the other sihthead Nuke Khan. So money and education is no guarantee for respect, not in Pakistan, not anywhere. In Pakistan the length of one’s beard gets one respect, and in other countries it is their kartoot (deeds).

Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
So then in normal countries, it is your deeds that win respect. Then do Pakistanis abroad have no respect because of their deeds?
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
PCG, in a nutshell, Yes. But in many places, it is individuals that are judged and not whole communities.

Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
PCG the joke goes, Pakistan is a poor country with rich people, India is a rich country with poor people...think about it ..
Re: Pakistanis, Money, Educated, Respect
Pakistanis have two obsessions - religion & India
The 'new' Indians have some too - movies, IT and politics
