No. Please no. I still have a load of Pakistaniyat left within myself which is going to vanish the minute they not only welcome but legalise this beghairti back home. I wouldn’t want anything to do with the place if it comes to that.

I’m not oblivious to the fact that it happens behind closed doors but no need to welcome it in the open, thankyouverymuch. If you can’t prevent it, fine, don’t promote it either. That’s like saying there’s no cure for cancer so let’s not try to stop the tumour from spreading, it’s going to kill you one day anyway.

Also, how do we know this is what the masses want? Someone posted a news article in one of the above posts that said it was because of public demand that the police raided a theatre where all of this stuff was supposedly going on. That goes to show abhi thori buhat ghairat baki hai hamari public mein. The recent bans on stuff like wearing low cut tops in theatres were also implemented due to public pressure… they raised awareness and the authorities took the necessary action. Then look at the state of our film industry… why isn’t it successful? Why has it gone down the drain? Because people don’t watch that crap. So I feel it’s definitely wrong to say yup most if not all Pakistanis want this… heck no, I sure hope not.

I was joking about the strip clubs, but not about accepting what people are doing. If you’re going to clamp down on such establishments, they’ll go deeper into the underground increasing the chances of women performers being exploited even more. The secrecy would prevent victims from going up to the authorities to report any kind of harassment at work. Cause I don’t think it can be shut down completely, unless of course they Taliban take over.
