Younis Khan was named Pakistan’s vice-captain for their forthcoming tour of India and Arshad Khan, the tall offspinner, earned a recall to the Test team. Shoaib Akhtar, who recently ruled himself out of contention with a hamstring injury, was left out of the 15-man squad announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Shabbir Ahmed, who was struggling with injury, did not recover in time and the pace department is spearheaded by Mohammad Sami and includes Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Mohammad Khalil. Pakistan will also lean heavily on Abdul Razzaq’s medium pace.
Danish Kaneria heads the spinners and is assisted by Arshad, who was rewarded with a recall for performing consistently in domestic cricket in Pakistan. Arshad last played a Test against England in 2000-01. Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi, the allrounders, strengthen the spin department.

I hope the selectors let Asim Kamal play both the tests and ODI's. If Sami clicks along with Naveed and Khalil, we will have a good opening attack, one which will not break down after three overs.

Youhana was doing quite well, specially during the times that he stood in for Inzi, he did a pretty good job. So I wonder why he was replaced as vice Captain by Younis Khan.

This could be an indication that PCB is thinking of replacing Inzi in the long run with Younis Khan as captain, or they might just want to test his leadership skills to see whether he can handle responsibilities of leadership. They already know what Yoyo can do.

Very well balanced team, indeed. Atleast in the current injury fiasco this was the best selection.
I am not in favour of Younis Khan's captaincy, despite of Great Khan's asheerbaad to him. Yohanna will make a good captain once we have the egos sorted out. He can be aggressive as well. Younis' body language is so cheap. He is our Kumble in that aspect.

good squad...but I think they should have selected Rao instead of Khalil. I know Khalil is a left handed bowler...but I think he is no where near ready for international cricket...where as Rao had been improving with every game...also Rao isnt too bad with bat either. Lets see if Khalil proves me wrong...but if I had a choice between Rao and Khalil...I would definetly pick Rao.
And it is indeed very good to see Pakistan naming Younis Khan vice captain. He is very vocal in the field, and also gives his 100% while batting...and his fielding is good too. You can tell he gives his best effort in the game in whatever he does. We already saw what Youhana and Inzamam can do...and now Younis has got his chance...and I think he must grab it...and if he does...I wont be surprised if he replaces Inzi as captain in the near future.

Balanced outfit considering the circumstances. Regarding the inclusion of Khalil, I doubt he will play, not in the first match at least. I can see both Arshad Khan and Kaneria playing with Rana, Sami and one all-rounder.
Younis' vice captaincy is a debatable issue. He was already seen as our furture captain (long before Imran khan pointed out). It was only a matter of him cementing his place in the test team (which he did in Australia). I still am not sure about his place in ODI lineup so maybe he is just a test-vice captain for the time being.

^ I dont think that Yasir and Taufeeq both will play in one team. One of them will partner Salman. ANd by his last test performance in Sydney, Yasir might get the nod but side matches are very important for that matter.

All good except for the two things. First, Younis Khan being groomed as captain?? He doesn't even have a guaranteed place in the side. Are we going to have different captains in tests and ODI's?? Second, man that sifarish of Khalil sure is good. Rao bowled MUCH better than him in Oz and this is the reward he gets. Khalil ain't fit for a club side.

Sh*t squad will only lead to a 3-0 loss, and you can write that down in your notebooks. Only the Pakistani selectors would make a batsman like Younis Khan the vice captain of a cricket team.Thank you.

I know usually this is not the way to go in the test match but considering the weak bowling attack they need 1 all-rounder, I dont see Afridi playing in is coz India dont want a bad mirror image of kumble's bowling from the other side.
our feet other wise we have to kiss them on there butt
