Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
this is clearly discrimination based on religious affiliation. It seems to assume that if you are not muslim you won't be as loyal to Pakistan.
the irony is, and this is quite a dismay, many many muslims of Pakistan feel that being muslim has to come before being Pakistani, meaning Pakistan is 2nd priority for them! but they can be president

This is just as in India where Muslims have to PROVE their "love/loyalty" to India, though condemnable IMO.
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Jizya was abolished in India when the moghul regime ended…ofcourse there was no internet then so it wouldn’t show in your Google news dashboard ![]()

Pakistan was created in 1947, I wish there was internet then for you to know that Pakistan doesn't ask jizya from non-Muslims.

oh no, then may be the memo didn't go out to all stakeholders within Pakistan, because I read of the Jizya demand within past couple of years
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Muslims don’t pay Jizya - its only the kafirs who got lucky ![]()
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
are Muslims thrown out of India yet? I kept reading demands of that, looks like memo didn’t get to all stakeholders in India
Are Kafirs paying special tax to Muslims in India? I am not talking about knife in stomach or bullet in head though ![]()
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Hi, I'm a Pakistani Christian. Majority of us pay our taxes and love Pakistan. And about our population, it's not 1% officially its around 3-5% but again it's under estimated because then Pakistan wouldn't be all that of a pure Islamic state. We love Pakistan but I don't think Pakistan loves us. Or else we would have equal rights like becoming a President or Prime Minister.
We support the Pakistan of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, not the Pakistan of today.
You dont have to support todays Pakistan, but the vision of Jinnah is what we all strive for. A secular, progressive nation where religion is a personal affair, and all Pakistanis are considered Pakistanis first and foremost.

India is not governed by Islamic law, so NO jizya. However, last I heard Hindus/Sikhs were asked to pay jizya to live in Pakistan.

Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Well they are Pakistani naturally their allegiance should be to Pakistan regardless of religion. Like India's Muslims.

Thats because as a Muslim, we are taught to believe that we are part of a larger entity... That being the Muslim Ummah or community. This community is not confined to any nationality or race.
When we die, Muslims are taught to understand that God will not ask them whether they were good Pakistanis, or good Saudis or Egyptians or good Indians, but rather good people, and thus inherently good Muslims.
You cant blame religious Muslims for putting their faith before their nation, because we are taught as Muslims that these nationalistic notions are artificial constructs, while the bonds of faith are ordained by the divine.
Hindu's on the otherhand have a much easier time reconciling themselves with India nationalism because Hinduism and Indianess go hand in hand, since Hinduism as a religion is based in India.

What blatantly stupid comment. They were asked to pay Jizya by TERRORISTS!
The state does not impose Jizya on the Minorities.
This from the same country that has murdered THOUSANDS of minorities over its short existence, including nearly 2000 Sikhs in a single orgy of violence.

Agree with most of your post except the part above. A Hindu American would still put America above Hinduism, whereas it seems a Muslim American would put Islam first. So nothing to do with Hinduism being based in India.

Any sane person knows that the treatment of minorities in India is much better than the way minorities are treated in Pakistan. You can pick out a couple of stray incidents like Sikh riots, Gujarat riots etc but all of that pales in comparison to the institutional discrimination against minorities in Pakistan.
Talk to me the day you elect a Hindu/Sikh/Christian as your PM/President.

One can argue the ethics of a tax like the Jizya to no end. But at the end of the day, Muslims have generally been credited with being extremely tolerant of minorities in those areas where they ruled.
If we are going to debate the morality of Islam, then shouldnt we also debate the morality of Hinduism? What justice is there for women in Hinduism? What of your caste system?
Muslims may be evil for imposing Jizya, but your faith imposes social hierarchies in which entire groups of people are reduced to the level of dogs, with barely any hope of ever improving their lot.

Can we stick to the topic here which is about treatment of minorities ? You can open another thread in the Religion forum to take out your frustration against Hinduism.

And any sane Indian would know that trumpting his countries "accomplishments" on minority rights is complete nonsense.
These arent stray incidents. These are MASS murders and they have occurred over and over.
Where in Pakistan history have minorities been murdered in te THOUSANDS?
You cant claim to be ivilized nation when THOUSANDS of people have been murdered in your country.

No, you brought up Islam. If you want to discuss Islamic law ten go right ahead. But at the end of te day, Hindu laws are from more oppressive and far more sexist.
