I guess Taliban never got the memo. Thats why they are kicking hindus and siksh out of tribal areas of the country. And oh, yea, what about institutionalized discrimination against them? You know like no non-Muslim can ever become head of the state?

Well every thing begins with small steps...lets stop the discrimination at the grass root level, because thats more dangerous and the non muslims have to go through that every day.

Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Well personally being lived in Lahore I have never come across hindus or Sikhs while being educated, the only Sikhs that we used to see were 'yatris' on Baisakahi in Anarkali or Mall Road. The first hindu I came across was from Sindh when I got employed. But now one can see some Sikhs there, I have forgotten the name of the shopping center in Gulberg but most of the shops in the center are owned by Sikhs.
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
I think the shopping center is City Towers, Main Boulevard Gulberg! The first Sikhs that I saw in pakistan were pashto speaking (this is about 15 years ago). I couldnt believe myself and thought that maybe something's wrong with me as I used to think that Sikhs only speak Punjabi.

There are non muslims, not that many though!
Mainly Christians in Punjab, Hindus in Sindh and Balochistan, and Sikhs and Christians in NWFP.
Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan

Re: Pakistani sikh Love For Pakistan
Hi, I'm a Pakistani Christian. Majority of us pay our taxes and love Pakistan. And about our population, it's not 1% officially its around 3-5% but again it's under estimated because then Pakistan wouldn't be all that of a pure Islamic state.
We love Pakistan but I don't think Pakistan loves us. Or else we would have equal rights like becoming a President or Prime Minister.

There were many hindus and sikhs living in Pukhtunkhwa, in fact most of the businesses were run by them, the people would usually go to their shops because they consider them honest. After the creation of Pakistan, the pakistani government sytemitically harrass them through their Muslim leagi workers and the result most of them migrated to India. During the Kashmir Jihad the Pashtun Lashkar were specifically advised by the govt to kill Sikhs becuase what they did to Punjabi muslim during partition. Also when pak sponsored taliban took over in afghanistan they harassed many hindus and sikhs on the advise of their bosses in Islamabad and force them to leave. There are still many sikhs live in pakhtunkhwa and have no issue with Pakhtuns and they are just like us.

Legally, a non-Muslim can become Prime Minister. As far as I am aware, the constitution gives the same political rights to Muslim Woman and Non-Muslims. The only position official closed to both groups is the Presidency, but that is a relatively powerless position.
