With approx 12 hour load shedding.. Wapda has approx 185 billion rupees deficit. Without load shedding this deficit will balloon up to 400 billlion rupees. The problem is not the capacity, the problem is where the government is going to find this 400 billion rupees per annum to finance this deficit. People don’t want to pay tax or pay Rs.18/ per unit instead of Rs.8/ per unit which is the real cost of generating and distributing this additional electricity to end load shedding…

We are in the habit of blaming the government for everything without understanding the real issue..!!!

Yes i agree, the deficit is huge and it will get bigger, thanks to the market conditions the oil price is below 80, but the moment it increase so will our deficit, knowing the habit of the people and more importantly the oil trend and purchasing power, Govt should have moved to hydel energy projects and could have saved the day.

Now these Hydel project won’t cost much, generally cost per MW is around USD 1.1 bn and there are many investors which will happily invest in these projects because not only they get money from generations but from the carbon credits as well… but very little was done in that regard…

I would say that the time govt spend in Keeping Her Alliance in tact, had it been spend on these kind of projects, there was little chance that the these small parties like MQM etc could have threat to govt…
