According to Pakistan’s diplomatic official in Washington, the first shipment comprising Sindhri mangoes reached Houston and Texas market while more shipments for Houston market will be delivered within two weeks.
Sindhri’s acceptability is much higher than other varieties because of its taste, rate, smell and juicy nature.
Following U.S. Department of Agriculture approval of irradiated mangoes from Pakistan, the country began exporting to the U.S. in 2011. Pakistan India and Thailand, which both began shipping irradiated mangoes to the U.S. in 2007.

Is Texas to become the only destination for notorious Pakistani Mangoes, or will they reach other parts of the country as well? A lot of cities in the Midwest and East Coast have big Pakistani populations who would probably buy the fruit shortly after its’ availability. Availability being the key…
Pakistani mangoes are considered unique in their flavor, very sweet in fact, and have become world famous. Europe and Canada have been recipients of the Forbidden Fruit for years while U.S. had been hesitant to allow its’ import due to USDA requirements of standard. But with the deliveries finally in motion, Pakistani Mangoes connoisseurs might not have to travel across the border to buy them.
Here’s what an article on The Star has to say about it according to a typical consumer:
It is difficult for some to understand the obsession that drives those in mad pursuit of the Pakistani mango. Two popular varieties, chaunsa and anwar ratol , are often described by mango connoisseurs as a sweeter version of its popular Indian cousin alphonso, commonly available in the U.S*.* But for those who have an acquired taste for the former, the difference between Pakistani mangoes and those from India and Mexico is like “apples and oranges.”
“You can’t even compare the taste. If you really have a knack for mangoes, you won’t like anything but Pakistani mangoes,” said Haider, who made the 12-hour drive last weekend from Virginia to Toronto, his third trip this summer, just to eat the seasonal delicacy. After his past failed smuggling attempts, he brought his family along this time for a weekend binge.

However, this makes news every year and nothing comes of it.
And ‘notorious’ means infamous.
And irradiated ?
And people in those cities need to save up to buy those mangoes at gold rates.

Love mangoes and have tasted from various sources and origins many times.
Re: Pakistani Mangoes: Destination USA
YES PLEASE
This is the first time Pakistani mangos have been exported to US. They started with Houston and Dallas this past month, hence all the excitement. I paid $25 for a 2.5 kg box of sindhris last week. It held 6 mangoes. The Mexican ones are 7.99 for a box that had about 10-12 in it lol

Re: Pakistani Mangoes: Destination USA
Who cares about Mexican mangoes . They come from across the border and Pakistani come from across 7 seas.
So tell us more about Pakistani ones, their taste, their texture, the sweetness, the way they tingle your senses and play with your taste buds.
