What harm/damage happens if you lose, or it gets stolen, the Id card while still in pakistan??

None. You just go to your local Nadra centre and get a new one made.

normally if someone finds a lost NIC they just pop it in a postbox and it usually gets sent back to the address on the NIC. However it's best to notify NADRA office asap and get a new one made.

I think u hve to report it to police (plus wait for 7 days) and get some sort of challan (or something like that) as a prerequisite.

no need of police......they will just bother you and create problems........nadra don't require police chalan.............. just go to nadra centre.......and get new one made........there is a new service where they charge you extra money (legitmitate).......but you can get things done quickly.......and you can get a new one in 2weeks to a month...

So, They (Nadra) will not ask for any sort of proof ??

didn't ask me.....i got it made 3-4 years back......people told me to get police challan...and when i asked nadra people......they said no need....
i just showed up at their office.....they asked me ID card number, gave a me a token.......the processs started.....they took photo,finger prints,data etc........ and then i got replica of my old id card (with old photo etc)........

^ Yes you are right, they( NADRA) changed the procedure to replace the lost CNIC in 2007 to exactly as you stated above. Thank you for the imp information.

Exactly, I lost my ID card and just went there and asked them to make me another. No police report or anything. They didn't take my photo/fingerprints either, just gave me a reprint of the old card.

You are considered a foreigner aka a terrorist, and as such are liable to be picked up and handed by the "agencies" to the US.

one full day to submit the application and 2nd full day of zallalat to collect it.

No, one does not simply walk into a Nadra office and grab an ID card.

You can imagin worst if you lost in Pakistan. But before you apply for your ID card. You may read this info:
