Knuckles??? Ouch! The base of the palm and the thumb work well.
Knuckles work great on the back and I've recieved thumbs up for that sorta massage until now.

Humsa, me too. try sitting on the person, so your arms have more support. WHen I was little my dad used to make me walk on his back, I daresay he would ask me to do that now

You can use your elbows as well and that part of your arm (your forearm???) between the elbow and wrist for longer strokes, when massaging the back.
That sounds very professional Mehnaz. I'm an amatuer I guess, I make do with my hands only.
