hmm.. interesting topic, the dilema in our society is that women's higher education in most families, even in some well educated families, is alwasy been a taboo. its a fact men are resonponsible to some extent, but general social behavior is equaly responsible for that. There are others factors like some woment themself don't want it to be this way, and all their ambitions are to get married and live a "happy" life. thats the main reason you will not find gr8 many carear oriented women.
For myself, I would prefer my wife to be atleast graduate if not a professional like me (you don't find many research fellows in pakistan :(, ). As atleast she should be able to cope with my social life and ofcourse should have my professional understanding. the other main reason is that she should be able to live indipendent if in future something goes wrong and should be able to raise my children all by herself, :( ( I know, a very cruel approuch, but it is a fact). I have seen exmaples in my relatives that after some unfortunate incidents or fate, they were dependent on their parents or on the family of the guy they were maried too, which caused further problems for the children.
