To me, a fob is someone who's more Western/American than westerners/Americans themselves. I see more cases of such fobbiness now than ever before.
As regards relationships and fobbiness, do you really think that fobbiness or ABCD-ness of someone is an issue here? Or is it what others think of you and your association with FOBs?
How would you feel if the applicant was a drop dead gorgeous French babe who spoke English with a thick French accent, or an Italian stud with all their respective cultural idiosyncracies?
hmmmm…i guess ur right…there are a lot of girls raised here who aren’t willing to go back to pak, even for a visit…at one point in my life i was the same way…i hated hte idea of anything related to pakistan and pakistanis…but now… i just want to take some time off from school for an extended visit..i’m not sure about acutally living there, coz that’s the plan for us right now.
I mean of course there’s still parts of our culture I don’t like, but then there’s parts of american culture (if one even exists) that I don’t like either, but I don’t abhor either society or all its pplz.
I just wish that guys would stop bashing on us girlz raised here…okay u say lussi was joking around whatever, but there are ppl who seriously feel this way about us, which i think is so wrong. with that kind of attitude we get from guys, it’s no wonder you see a lot of girls saying “i hate men.”…not that its’ right but I can understand that now
^ Honestly, I respect people because they are Muslims or they are Pakistani etc. I don't hate people just because they weren't born in Pakistan but their parents are from Pakistan or they were born in America but their parents are from any other Muslim country. That kind of mentality is wrong! That's exactly why I hate when immature people say "I don't like FOB". It's like what the hell? "FOBs" aren't humans? So what if you were born here or have been livnig her since your childhood and the dude wasn't born here? So what if your views are different than his views or vice versa? So what if he loves his country and wants to go back to visit every now and then? Leave poor "FOBs" alone! If you hate them so much, why do you disucss them? Why do you want to marry an "FOB" computer programmer who makes more money than an american born boy who's flipping burgers at Burger King or dealing with drugs or sleeping with every girl he comes across with?
People who have such mentality and bring "FOB"-ness in every single aspect of life seriously need to grow up!
Oh yeah, I've been in the US for about 7+ years and I am VERY open minded as you can see from my posts in life forum. Call me an FOB or confused or whatever, whatever I feel is wrong, I will say it and I'll take the side of the truth.

whoa whoa whoaaaaa did i ever say i hated fobs????? I consider myself a fobbni too and there's nothing wrong with being a "fob." everyone's definition of it is different....and dude i dont have anything against a persons' birthplace or watever.
okay i said i can't blame girls when they feel the whole "i hate men" thing coz of the attitude we get from guys, but that wasn't a direct attack at you , i'm sorry if you thought it was, but u know what, just from what i've seen on gs, there are guys who feel the way I've just described, whether they're raised here or in their home country or watever. it wasn't an attack on where they were brought up, but rather their mentality which I feel is very inaccurate, unfair and just wrong.
I was talking in general. Why do you ALWAYS think I am pointing fingers at you I never point fingers and when I do, I name people so they would know Please don’t ever think I am pointing fingers at you or anyone, because I would’ve quoted you or anyone else
Now, your post. Yeah, people have got to let this fob attitude go. Enough already!

hehehehehehehhhh
nah, i just felt like adopting that avatar..i hate being avatar-less...i want a custom one soon....and all the ones for females they hadi hated em
How would the female members feel who have been either born and/or raised abroad to be living with a guy from back home who cannot get a decent job because he did not get his education from here (at times it could be a disadvantage).
I don't think I'd feel too good if I have to be the breadwinner for the family. I wouldn't mind working to help out, but I don't want to be the breadwinner.
lussi and shikra.. i would strongly advise the two of u from talking about "abcd" girls when you've never even tried to understand them..
the definition of a FOB has changed in the past few years.. someone who comes from pakistan/india is no longer classifed as a fob.. cus most of the time you cant even tell the difference between whose been raised abroad and who hasnt..
i'd prob say fobbiness has to do with culture.. and in that sense, im prob 95% there..
Sadzzz.....same applies to girls who start such stupid threads and those who actually post replies in those threads. Just like "abcd" is an offensive term, "FOB" is also an offensive term to some people.

And some nice words for others sons and brothers won't hurt too :)

I agree.. the topic should be closed.. as well as terms like fob and abcd

I do not understand, why does the use of terms such as "ABCD or FOB" legitimise the use of insults such as rundi or whore or slut etc.
I wonder if their daughters (in the future) will also be the above. Benig potential ABCDs, it should thus be OK for me to say, any child of yours wil lbe such and such.
And yet I don't becasue I am neither a toad nor do I suffer from a complex. My family have also instilled certain manners within me that reguardless of the situation i choose not to shed.
That is nothing to do with FOBness nor ABCDness, but tarbeyat.
So far as the original question was concerned, if someone was so ignorant then surely it is their loss. Why should it bother any one of you, to the extent that you feel compelled to bakwas in a truely ghatiya fashion.
these people will marry a girl/guy from back home.. bring em overseas and breed.. now wont their kids fall in the same category? do they not see that one day their words will turn against them? do they not care or are they "munafiqs" (my new word)
hiccupy, yes it is tarbiyat that makes you cultured or not, have morals or not.. its got nothing to do with which mitti you were raised on..

And it is equally ironic taht in one instance they will chastise those who do not conform to their idea of religion/belief system state crazy strong loyalty to their family...and in the other instance are guilty of a new breed of racism, and of dirtying their tongues/insulting annothers family in such a way that even hypocracy is a meek and mild term.
The funniest thing is, that the FOBS/ABCDs in question really do not give a damn on the whole.
^ haha its called hypocrycy at its best :) i dont even know if these people realise what they're saying.. if u explained it to them the way u jsut did.. im sure u'll get some confused looking expressions back..
its not just so called "fobs" who are to blame... there are loads of "abcds" who hold the same sort of retarded attitudes... its sad really.
