Pakistani Engagements?

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

A lot of her stuff is very nice, especially her dress clothes and the clothes she buys in Pakistan, I really love those. Just her taste in colors is sometimes different than mine, but I know if I tell her not to buy a certain color she won't. Desi clothing in general is sometimes brighter and jewelery bigger than what I'm used to..it's not specifically her taste.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Here is a picture of me wearing clothing and jewelery that I borrowed from her for Khalid’s cousin’s valima. This picture is almost 2 years old and I lost about 30 lbs since then, so don’t judge it on that. It’s just an example of clothing that I enjoyed wearing, but in a color/style that I may not have necessarily chosen for myself.
I don’t mean to come off as ungrateul or a bridezilla or anything of the sort, because I’m not like that at all, and I will happily wear whatever she buys for me. I just think it’s fun to look at different styles and colors of clothes for ideas and things. Clothing is definitely going to be the most fun and least stressful part of the whole thing. Anyway, here’s the picture…

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

you don't sound like a bridezilla at all! if anything, you seem more accommodating than most pakistani girls marrying pakistani men! :p

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Alright...here's another question..can anyone recommend any movies that do a good job of depicting a pakistani wedding? I thought it might be a fun way of showing friends and family what to expect.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

a pakistani wedding? look at a wedding video. pakistani films are generally awful. and if you show 'em indian weddings, it raises their expectations to bollywood-dancing levels! :P

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Empress, google some professional Indian/Pakistani videographers in NYC or even Toronto. A lot of them have demos on that will give you a general idea of what to expect.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Empress since u’re in the NY area maybe if u have time you could attend a Dulhan Expo http://www.dulhanexpo.com/home.htm where you could get to learn alot on how modern day indian/pakistani weddings come together in terms of photography, wedding planning, dresses, makeup etc. It would give you an idea.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Thanks shweetdreamz, I definitely want to check one of those out. Also, thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and ideas, you all have been most helpful.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

That’s a really nice color but dude that style is 10-15 years old. I’m sure that tyep of stuff is not sold in many bazaars anymore, shell go for something decent and nice…!

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

Sara, you just totally relieved a lot of my fears..lol...like I said, I had fun wearing that, but it really isn't something I'd want to be wearing for any occasion where I'd be the center of attention. I feel a lot better now...hehe.

Re: Pakistani Engagements?

^ it is OK, but definitely not a bridal/trosseau dress! she gets nice jewelery i'm sure of that, but u deff wont get that dress from Pakistan, i'm pretty sure it wont be available anymore lol
