How closely do they reflect Pakistani society in today’s age ?****
I’ve recently started watching Pakistani dramas and found quite a few good ones playing…some portray society today very closely , today’s youth and the culture clash and generation gap that still exists in Pakistani society.
P.S What are ones that you guys would recommend as must see ?..

i feel the quality has deteriorated in the recent years.....
Cuz i dont visit pak....i see the lifestyle portrayed in these dramas as the one existing in pak
pakistani dramas are the best dramas in the world. realistic stories and realistic acting. yes we do have some bad examples of dramas within pakistani dramas but overall they are excellent. there are LOAAAAAAAAAADS of dramas which i can very well recommend and which do show pakistani society very well. "zaib un nisa, daam, doraha, chamak...list is toooo long"
I don't know why, but if I ever watch a pakistani drama I can't take it seriously. The situations are so overly unrealistic (example: a wife begs her husband to marry another woman as a second wife and when he does the second wife treats the first wife like **** but the first wife continues to be extra-dextra nice to the first wife and her in-laws.) They make the evil ones look completely heartless and the good ones are just saints...there isn;t a lot of moderation. Regardless, I think they're a waste of time and useless. I'd really like to HOPE and think that they do not reflect our Pakistani community! these drama's have so easily opened up the idea of boyfriend/girlfriend's, physical contact, the clothing and basically going against the pakistani culture and religion.

I have seen few of such examples (the example you gave about the wife who begs her husband to marry another and then she is treated like dirt, but still continues to be very nice) in real life. Nothing (overly) unrealistic about it.
As for the evil ones being heartless and the good ones being very sweet and too kind, i have seen those people too. In my direct family.
Nothing exaggaretd about that as well.
The only difference between a drama and real life is, that in dramas there is often a good ending. And in real life, the misery often continues. Unfortunately.
most of the dramas on HUM TV have very good close to real life situations. I have observed that most of the long playes are near to life than long plays where they have to stuff it up to run it for 5-6 months.
Just on the weekend a very good long play was on (something something nangay paoon). Taboo topic (guy hooking up with younger sali) but very real life situation.
I think it's wrong to say that Pakistani dramas respresent Pakistani society as a whole BUT, I do believe that most of the dramas tell someone's story. It may be an exaggerated version of the the story - but what we believe to be outrageous and unbelievable, has happened to someone out there.
It's always the same 10 actors in every GEO and ARY drama. Nice to see the same strategy that took Pakistani movies down is being used in TV. Back in the 80's Pakistani movies only had 4 or 5 actors and every movie had the same story and characters.
Andhera Ujala and Ragon mein Andhera are 2 diff things.
Both are good, but Ragon Mein Andhera is in my view the best drama in pak, especially considering the time it came out, the societal challenges and the general TV dramas at that time. It was a game changer in my view.
no idea of links
the story revolves around a cop out to get drug pushers
in a very corrupt and dangerous environment
he is kidnapped by the drug traffickers and made into a junkie as revenge and to kill his credibility with the authorities
and then its his struggle catching these guys while struggling with his addiction and challenges with his own police force
considering this was in the 80s with all the drug issues pakistan was having and the other dramas were fluffy lover fodder like an kahi and tanhaiyaan, this really was something else. I did not see it when it was on because i was not in pakistan but i rented and watched it later due to recommendations. you should be able to find cds at local stores.
