Pakistani Batting

We had all or most of us had predicted that Pakistan will loose the first test. But we did not think that it will go so horribly wrong. I had expected that Azhar Ali and Umar Amin will score atleast 20-30 runs and gradually gain in confidence. Where did we go wrong?

Re: Pakistani Batting

^^ Throwing youngsters in rocky waters and accept them to swim through it, thats where we went wrong, in addition, we were over confident with the win against Australia

Re: Pakistani Batting

I think its the dressing room where we actually went wrong ... :D

Lets not blame these two newcomers, we were having quite mature players in the team, did anyone of them proved? What about the captain himself? Farhat, Malik, Akmal Brothers ... its a combine batting failure which is the most important factor of loosing this match ...

I still give my points to the tail-enders the way thay batted, Amir, Gul and later on Kaneria ... it wasn't their responsibility to make runs but they player better than the experienced in the side ...

Re: Pakistani Batting

I didnt understand why Malik was sent so low down the order, did he want to be there or Butt did not want to promote him.

Umar Akmal should be dropped and Yasir Hameed brought in for the next match, though i doubt it will make much difference.

Re: Pakistani Batting

I still believe there is something going on between Shoaib and other team mates ...

No i am not blaming them at all, i am blaming the management who thought that we can cross the floody river without experienced and only with the help of those who are good in swimming pools only..

Azhar specially has lot of talent and unfortunately there is no one to guide him and correct his errors, there is no senior batsman in the team, there is no batting coach.. that is what i was referring to.. to me Umer Amin and Azhar Ali should continue...

Re: Pakistani Batting

Anyways, no worries, i am training Hamza ( my 11 months old), he'll soon be ready to bat for the team... we can even hit the ball with the stick... so he may be able to score some more runs..

Re: Pakistani Batting

My Hamza is becoming a bowler.

I can see Hamza as Pak captain in near future ... :D

Guess what my Hamza can catch a ball as well...

I think both will be in the team soon..

No doubt, just let me or anyone i know become the chairman of PCB :)

All the best and very good luck for both of the Hamza's ... :)

Re: Pakistani Batting

If I had to play this batting line up again.. I would have U Akmal and Shoaib Malik at 3 and 4.. and then the young ones..

might not make much of a difference anyway.. truth is that none of these guys have any clue how to play swing bowling its quite pathetic really..

Pak needs a good batting coach.. desperately.

Any other wish…Sir

Inzamam-ul-Haq, former captain and Pakistan’s second highest run-scorer in Tests, has offered his services as a full-time batting coach to the national team. Pakistan’s batsmen are struggling on a tour of England, where they were dismissed for 182 in the first innings at Trent Bridge and are 15 for 3 in the second.
“The team definitely needs a full-time batting coach and, if any offer is made to me for this position, I will definitely give it serious consideration,” Inzamam told. “They need a batting coach to guide them and it is a responsibility I would look at accepting because Pakistan cricket has given me a lot,” Inzamam told Reuters. Pakistan already have in their coaching staff former batsman Ijaz Ahmed, who doubles up as a batting and fielding coach.
The Pakistan batsmen also struggled in the two Tests against Australia in England. They lost heavily at Lord’s but managed to draw the series by winning at Headingley after their bowlers dismissed Australia for 88 in the first innings. Their batsmen, however, were unconvincing during the chase of a small target.
“The batsmen are not playing with the required technique and temperament,” Inzamam said. “They lack patience and get out after scoring 20 to 30 runs, which is not good enough for Test matches.”
Inzamam said the selectors should also consider the retired Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan, who is out of favour at the moment, for the Test side. “Even a good batsman requires a year or so in Test cricket to settle down and play long innings. I would advise the selectors to try out a combination of senior and young players. And they should use Younis and Yousuf.”

I am not surprised though.

Remember even against Australia at Headingley, Pak went rom 131/1 to 180/7. Another 10-15 runs to get (or if Australia had shown greater urgency esp. during Farhat-Azhar partnership on day 3) and we would have lost that game as well. The way we won that game in the end....martey martey....was not convincing at all.

When things go wrong for Pakistan with the bat they usu. do in a big way..

The way we are batting at the moment I can see England inflicting a 4-0 whitewash on us!

Re: Pakistani Batting

I am not surprised either, but even if we had Younis and or Yousuf we will still have lost, may be not by 354 but 353, 350 or 300. Loss is a loss, by 100 runs or 354.

In my opinion, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal should be goner. Umar Akmal can come back if he shows willingness to use his brain and be patient.

Re: Pakistani Batting

Yousuf is being called back, i think its best to drop Umar Akmal and play him, but am afraid they will drop Malik or one of the two youngsters.

Re: Pakistani Batting

^ Yep, Malik and Akmals will stay, only newbies will go, most likely Umar Amin will go if Yousuf comes back.

Re: Pakistani Batting

well Umar Amin has been a total failure. Yes newcomers should be persisted with but only if they show talent. Nothing of the sort from Amin in the three test matches he has played.
