Guys in Pakistan, give us some update on th day 1 of pakistan X1 vs Rest of Pakistan. Haven’t heard anything on news channels or websites.

Now, don't assume that Akhtar, Gul are likely to miss out in the first TEST lineup, Bob Woolmer on his website played Gul and Akhtar in Rest of Pakistan to give Pak batsmen good practice and test Akhtar and Gul against good batsmen (Inzi, Yohanna etc).

Here you go guys, the much awaited scoreboard is up on PCB website. This match is extremely important because many players could be selected on the basis of good performance and Malik has made the opening spot his own by scoring EXCELLENT 177 not out:) .

What an innings! I never thought of Malik as a Test opener, but he's looking better than everyone else in that slot. Everyone got into the runs, except Butt. Tomorrow, I think Malik will be retired to get Inzi some batting practice. Shoaib Akhtar seems to have had a good outing 15/1/50/1. Not bad, and certainly the best of the bowlers who bowled today.

Malik scored splendid 177 Not out against decent bowling attack of Akhtar, Gul, Mushtaq, Rao.
Younis Khan scored a century as well, boy is this guy consistent ??:)
Yohanna still there: 42 Not out
Akhtar's performance is satisfactory sicne he didn't collapse and bowled 15 overs and 1/50 isn't too bad considering Pakistani XI scored massive 352 off only 66 overs.
Mushtaq's chances look bleak even more now (not that he had much chance before).
Future hope Mansoor Amjad was destroyed by Malik and Younis.
Good day of cricket, good practice for Pakistani batsmen. I hope our bowlers perform a bit as well now.

I always knew Malik is so varsatile that he can adjust himself at any position. Just needs encouragement from team management and practice on new ball.

Those who were thinking Mushy should be picked I think it shows here clearly it will be a waste. I hope Bob and specially Inzi should not even bother picking Mushy.

Guru, everyone wants to see fully fit Shoaib tearing through England batting lineup (no matter how much people hate him) and his performance yesterday was pretty good, not just the figures but according to people who witnessed his performance yesterday felt very satisfied with his performance and fitness(since it was worst possible bowling track for a fast bowler). But at the same time, you can NOT blame Bob, Bari, Shaharyar, Izni etc for ANYTHING that happens to Shoaib, he brings his own demise and he can only blame himself.

I really am not so sure about it though. His technique against short pitched bowling has to improve. If not now (on Pakistani wickets), then surely by next year (England tour).

Yes true game, he looks clueless against short pitch bowling but at least he is a hard worker who is turning out to be one of the MOST consistent batsmen in ODI cricket(in last 2 years),he started only as an off spinner who could slog a bit. It really shows that he is willing to learn and improve, look where Flintoff started from and where he is today.
I am sure(or at least i can hope) that Malik will improve further and his technique will improve against short pitch bowling.

i am not convinced at all by this performance! well played but, uh huh! not declaring him opener after playing on such a dead pitch! against the seaming ball malik looks lost! in aus looked lost! i am not criticizing him, i am a supporter of his because he is a fighter and tries very hard! i just think there are better openers then him in Pakistan (Yasir HAMEED) but he is going through very bad form and luck but his time will come, same thing happened to younis,every1 here bashed him also a year and half ago!! anyways I wish the best for malik but if ur saying well opening problems are resolved just by this than u people are naiive! seaming ball and short ball is what he has 2 work on!!

I agree with u, much what has happened to Shoaib is his own doing and cud have been avoided, but at the same time much what is reported and said is also part of the media lynching and character assasination that can be also be avoided.

Good start for Malik, will do his confidence a lot of good especially after remodelling his action.
But what is with this guy Butt?? He never scores in these matches. And these are the easiest wickets for batting he will ever get. I think it will be very unfortunate if he is unable to capitalize on this unprecedented opportunity. Pakistan desperately needs a reliable opener and with a bit of effort he can cement his place in the team for years to come.
Mushy not impressive, I think it's just a red herring Bob has thrown in order to give England something to worry about.
