there was not problem, it was afridi was not to delivering, no team can play with 6 bowlers.... this is not a test match... Afridi bowled really bad, from his bowling and field he has taken, it seems like he don't want Pakistan to win.
We had haris sohail . He may have absorbed some overs from any bowler. That was tactically not correct from Mishabh. Maybe he didnt wanted to take risk of giving away too many runs by haris. But that is the test of the bolwer whether he is fit for big mometns or not

2 things here, Had Misbah given ball to Haris and haris leaks more run then that would be a disaster, we never had enough runs on board to create pressure, and 2nd thing, one or two good balls by Afridi could have done the damage, just like last over of Afridi which was maiden and create enormous amount of pressure on Zim.
All in all, we played to our strength, that is our bowling and with the mediocre score of 235 , it delivered.
Yes Afridi leaked runs but had his catches been taken we may had different figures at hand.

I will not say well done paksitan... MAybe hat is the same kick as pk got in 1992 though I dont expect much. That time we had miandad and imran who can rotate strike and our bowling line was very strong. Wasim , imran , aaqib , even amir sohail was decent. Look now what we have except irfan. We lack strong spinner

^^ I don't know which match of 92 world cup you are talking about where Imran and Miandad were rotating strike, both in Semi-FInal and Final they did what was needed, i.e. stayed at the wicket till the time is right, if i am not wrong, Pakistan got its 100 runs in 30ish overs in both the matches and both Miandad and Imran Khan consumed lots of deliveries and rightly so.

i think yasir shd play against South africa but sohail shd be rested. i have seen enough of him and he is just an ok bowler. rahat shd play and sohail shd be rested. aand yasir shd be tried instead of sohail.
basicaly sarfarz and yasis shd play...and sohail and jamshed shd sit....quesiton is who will open? i dont want sarfraz to open. he may score in one odd match but this is not his job and he can be more handful down the order on these pitches.
if we have to experiment, might as well try afridi to open as he is not scoring any runs anywhere

This is was good win but not the win we should have, i won't read to much into it, there are some positives though,
that is, Zimbabwe who managed to score 270+ against the kinds of SA was not able to get to 235 against a below average Pakistani pace attack. This will give some confidence to the bowlers who were like headless chicken after Ajmal and Hafeez were out of the squad.

Went to bed at the fall of Misbah's wicket thinking it is all over, that 220+/- will be chased down easily by Zimbabwe (they have been scoring 270+ against the other teams) esp. as Pak players seem very low on confidence, almost like the team has forgotten how to win
just woke up and checked cricinfo & saw that Pakistan had (somehow) won....thanks to Irfan and Wahab. A pleasant surprise indeed. **

I told you, it was going to be a win though not too much NRR friendly. Pakistan got a well deserved victory, congrats for the win and staying alive in WC.
Also spare a thought for Zimbos, they played their heart out and shown a good resistance. Had they gotton more experience then they could actually have won.

The importance of hitting the ball into gaps and running singles and twos seems alien to our batsmen
Poor strike rotation is arguably the biggest reason why we struggle with the bat in ODIs
Now every team plays a few dot balls in their innings but not that many. We are routinely wasting half or even more than half of our overs, not really smart cricket.
Batsmen either lack skill & ability to rotate the strike or just don’t value it enough. Need to work on shot placement and deft touches
