Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
Plus the help from rain-gods in the match against England that they were all set to lose and exit the WC.
South Africa made 211-7 in 50 overs, rained in the middle of our innings and the revised target 194 from 36 overs !!! Saffies like to cry and moan about the Semi final of the '92 World Cup, they wouldnt even have made it that far had it not rained. If you live by the sword you die by the sword as well. People always remember that the rain gods saved Pakistan against England well we gained 1 point from that and lost two points because of that agaisnt South Africans.
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
man our cricketers need to learn to speak English properly
These guys travel around the world, stay in 5 star hotels, live in the most expensive parts of Pakistan and yet talk like they are living in some ghetto in Multan
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
What the hell difference does it make if they can speak english or not. They are professioanl cricketers. Speaking english is not part of their job. English is not our national language and personally I could care less if they can speak english or not, they just need to perform to the best of their ability. Why are people so complexed about speaking english anyway ?
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
Well I peronsally wasnt expecting the result, I thought we had enough fire power to easily win the game but oh well. First of all I dont understand why Pakistan went in this world cup with 1 specialist opener. I mean Imran Nazir is the only specialist opener we have (if I may call him a specialist) secondly our batting was too weak. Hafeez is a handy cricketer but he doesnt have a place at the top of the order. I mean they guy doesnt even average 20 for crying out loud. Afridi would be a much better option then Hafeez and people cry about Afridi's unpredictibility.
We had the big 3 but out of those big three Younis atleast was trying to play positive. I agree it was a pathetic shot he tried to play but he was not playing in a shell atleast. Inzi and Yousaf lost this match for Pakistan. First they played painfully slow making the West Indies bowling attack look a lot betterthen it actually is, second they cant judge a single or a double if their life depended on it. I mean on the rare occasion when they found the gap they would run when no one other batsman in the word would settle for less then two, maybe think about a third.
Shoaib Malik was brilliant. Not only did he play well with the tail but even when Inzamam was there Malik showed his intentions right away as he has more brains then Inzi that the run rate was getting out of hands.
With this bowling line up and Afridi missing we needed to play Azhar and or Arafat. They wouldnt have bowled much worse then Rana or for that matter they could have bowled almost as good (wickets/ economy wise) as Kaneria. But they would have taken our batting really deep. Although personally I would have preferred Sami over Rao but I must say he bowled quite well today.
In the next game Rana and Kaneria should make way for Azhar and Yasir.
Good points and just what I have beenbragging about
Take the useless Rana and Kanaria out and bring in all rounders..... Pakista team was done when 7th wicket was fallen. All tail left....
Also Inzi has no clue of captaincy.... The guy is a genius batsman but an idiot when it comes to captaincy. I wish Pakistan can go all the way but even getting into Super 8 looks mighty tough. Dont let Zimbabwe fool you here. Group D is going down to last game of stage 1.
Also Manhoos butter fingered Kamran Khatmal needs to go after WC. The guy needs some break. I would rather play with 10 players and have one genuine Wicketkeeper who does his job. I dont want him to bat, i want him to make some plays behind the wickets
When Afridi gets back, I will replace him with Useless Imran NAzeer
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
Positives:
1. Gul went through injury-free and bowled well.
Malik played a great innings.
Rao bowled tightly in middle overs.
4.PCB must kick Hafeez out sometime soon. Thank the heavens. Thought we saw the last of him but the idiot insaan is back.
5.Afridi will be back next game. Should replace Hafeez. Kaneria, though he did well in patches, needs to make way so we can bolster batting.
Negatives:
1. Rana failed to regain form.
Death bowling was atrocious.
Akmal's keeping was horrendous. 2 run out opportunities, simple ones, missed. Lara dropped.
Openers failed. I still would rather have Nazir in team than Hafeez. He at least has that flair. Hafeez is just a grinder who thinks he can hit.
Inzi and Yousuf plodded around too long to waste their starts. 7 runs in 5 powerplay overs!
6.We now can only afford to lose one more game if we wish to get into semis. Looks like we'll be vs Aus next. Lose that and then we have to win five straight.
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
The two teams which go to super 8 will only take the points they scored against each other, for eg if Pakistan and WI go from this group , WI will take 2 points with them and Pak 0. :(

That's not strictly true. Even if (that's a big if though) we win 4 of our 6 super-eight games, we would be in contention for a semis place. If we win three it still might come down to the net run-rate. So you can see why winning against not a strong team like WI was so important. It would have made our job than much easier in the next round.
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
^ Agree.
Apart from that as a Cricket viewer, It was a pathetic experience watching Pak batting.
Sparing incapable openers, blame experienced players like Younis Khan...this guy really got himself out. You even can't compare him with Sehwag here, at least Sehwag can excuse, he is a handicap when it comes to feet movement.
Younis has got a decent feet movement, he simply threw away his wicket, I hope Sehwag will not draw any consolation out of this.
Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica
Strenght of character comes from defeat...
girthay hein shahsawar hee maidan e jung mein...
problem with Pakistan is that they have yet to learn from their mistakes, instead of correcting these mistakes they are repeated again and again symbolizing the obstinate, mediocre personality of their leader.
Based on Rana's poor form he wud have been never selected by other teams for such an important tournament, niether wud have Imran Nazir be considered after just one match performance, then again this is Dopey's-Pakistan. Akmal wud have been given the boot longtime go, but then again this is Dopey's Pakistan.
Malik's sixty appeared to be the only gem of the inning simply because there was nothing else to compare nor was there any pressure when he batted, cause was already lost.
Only bright spot....Rao's bowling, some hope for the future.
