Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

only points b/w the two teams that qualify from each group for super-eight round count.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

The two teams which go to super 8 will only take the points they scored against each other, for eg if Pakistan and WI go from this group , WI will take 2 points with them and Pak 0. :(

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

OMG

:crying:

salay windies.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

241 was still a reasonably doable score. The key things I think, based on as much match as I was able to see, were thowing away opening tickets. Very irresponsible plays by Imran Nazir, Imran Hafiz, and Younis Khan.

All these opening batsmen had to do was to stay on the wicket for 10-15 overs playing safe with singles. There was no need to try to play that stupid shot that younis did...I mean, early overs, new ball, swinging away, outside the off-stumps..OUTSIDE THE OFF-STUMPS, and he's hooking it towards mid-on???? what the heck??? Same thing with Imran Hafiz. Was there a point to play that shot??

Yousaf and Inzi had to take a big responsibility. There was only one reliable batsman left behind (Shaoi). If they didn't have as much pressure on Pakistani side as they had, even that would have been enough wickets in hand but they didn't.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

To be honest, if we couldn't beat a low-ranked West Indies side, what chance do we have against better bowling attacks and better batting line-ups? I am slitting my wrists right now :o .

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

And what exactly did Inzi and Yousuf had in mind when they were hell bent on playing like Haneef Mohammad? There were no Razzaq and Afridi to accelerate the run rate. Idiots.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Pakistan can only beat India, if they qualify for Super 8's, right? Baby steps!!!

:)

Just kiddin'

I am sure Pakistan will bounce back and unleash their entire fury on the poor babies from Ireland. By the time we play Zimbabwe, we will be dobara thanday....

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

game,

from what I saw there were two choices inzi and yousaf had when they came to play. Accelerate the runs but lose wickets (oh yeh, they were gonna lose wickets if they had played any faster at that point) OR hang in there and save wickets first, stablize, and steadly accelerate. This has been done hundreds times before...remember Miandad? They did good by saving the wickets otherwise it would have been over a lot sooner. Building up the score slowly and steadily for 20 or so overs is a very common sense strategy which has higher probability of working compared to Afridi-like bombarment, which of course, only Afridi can pull off.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Pakistan batting has always been very unpredictable. They may show up a completely different side when faced with tough opposition in Super 8. If Imran Nazir stays for 15 overs, for example, Pakistan can be looking at 105/1 rather then 43/3. Big difference.

Only thing that will likely remain the same is our bowling. It is mediocre and will remain mediocre throughout the tournament. No total our batting puts up is safe till the 50th over is over.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

We cannot have two Afridis in a team. I am referring to Imran Nazir who is the second Afridi wannabe. At least with Afridi you have a bowling option. I think we should kick Imran out get Yasir Arafat or Azhar Mahmood in his place. Secondly we need to get Rana out as he fails even more than Sami. We need someone of Sami's pace at the death. I would still keep Kaneria in the team as he has wicket taking ability

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Why is why I shall slit my wrists after today's loss. Nahi nahi, fat dope-head unfit party boy ko na khilao, he disrupts team namaaz :o .

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Ireland are pretty decent. They are as good as a good county side. I think they'll do this depleted Zimb team.

Hi,

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Basically everyway we look at it we're screwed. At least this defeat against a mediocre windies side will teach us to have rock bottom expectations. Like not losing by 10 wickets or triple digit run margins.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

OMG the doomsday squad has took over KK....
Come on....other teams will lose as well....no one will every match.....yeah we will probably go into super 8 with 0 points....but we can still fight it out...and if we make it to semis.....then we will see how PAK plays
lolz....
negativity galore....

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

I agree with The Game *here.* The Indian team is afflicted with the same malady as what Pak bastmen (Inzi & Yousuf) displayed today. When the team loses 2-3 quick wickets, you will see the batsmen at the crease totally withdrawing into a shell....this has the result of increasing the required run-rate...and putting even more pressure on the batsmen and those to follow...resulting in more wickets going down.

Teams like Australia on the other hand will may be curb their slogging instincts when a few wickets have fallen...but they always keep the score board ticking by rotating the strike.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

This is the perfect start for Pakistan. In 1992 too they lost their opening game against the West Indies and look where they ended up.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Plus the help from rain-gods in the match against England that they were all set to lose and exit the WC.

Hi,

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

Well I peronsally wasnt expecting the result, I thought we had enough fire power to easily win the game but oh well. First of all I dont understand why Pakistan went in this world cup with 1 specialist opener. I mean Imran Nazir is the only specialist opener we have (if I may call him a specialist) secondly our batting was too weak. Hafeez is a handy cricketer but he doesnt have a place at the top of the order. I mean they guy doesnt even average 20 for crying out loud. Afridi would be a much better option then Hafeez and people cry about Afridi's unpredictibility.

We had the big 3 but out of those big three Younis atleast was trying to play positive. I agree it was a pathetic shot he tried to play but he was not playing in a shell atleast. Inzi and Yousaf lost this match for Pakistan. First they played painfully slow making the West Indies bowling attack look a lot betterthen it actually is, second they cant judge a single or a double if their life depended on it. I mean on the rare occasion when they found the gap they would run when no one other batsman in the word would settle for less then two, maybe think about a third.

Shoaib Malik was brilliant. Not only did he play well with the tail but even when Inzamam was there Malik showed his intentions right away as he has more brains then Inzi that the run rate was getting out of hands.

With this bowling line up and Afridi missing we needed to play Azhar and or Arafat. They wouldnt have bowled much worse then Rana or for that matter they could have bowled almost as good (wickets/ economy wise) as Kaneria. But they would have taken our batting really deep. Although personally I would have preferred Sami over Rao but I must say he bowled quite well today.

In the next game Rana and Kaneria should make way for Azhar and Yasir.

Re: Pakistan vs West Indies - March 13 Sabina Park, Jamaica

but some people very conveniently forget that the same rain rule denied us two points against SA (who made only 203) in 1992. Pakistan were winning before the rain intervened, and then because of the ridiculous rain rule the asking rain jumped from 4-4.5 to 9 or 10 and though Inzi and Imran tried to keep up with the RR for a while smashing some lusty blows, it just proved too much in the end.
