Saby bhai I can’t speak for everyone here who support shoaib akhtar. But if this is the general feeling people are getting that by supporting shoaib akhtar, unintentionally some members are undermining the genuine efforts of other paki players, than I apologize. I am sure no one could question the efforts of any paki players in the process of supporting shoaib akhtar. By doing so shoiab akhtar supporters including me will autheticate the hypothsesis that he is bigger than the team pakistan.

^ what is the problem, Pakistan is still in the game.. if they can get Lara out then the whole WI batting line up will fold up. Yes its a different story that if the bowlers had got him out earlier then WI would have been batting for the second time by this point.
And about collymore . i dont think he is not any better than any Pakistani bowlers. Its only the brilliance of Lara that WI got to this point. Get him out.. bat fast and then get the WI out in double quick time.. and the series is level .:)

It was a nice day for Pakistan because they scored 374 and got an all round effort from the batting line-up. Although the openers did not do well but they will in the second inngs hopefully. About Windes inngs, why are people at gupshup saying things about our bowlers and Shoaib? Lara is playing a magical inngs even if Wasim, Waqar or Shoaib were here he would have made an impact. He is a great player just give him the props.
It is not going to be a walk in the park Test match for Pakistan, they just need to be aggressive and continue to play well both with bat and bowl. We can still win this thing...

^ nobody is saying lara doesn't deserve credit. ofcourse he's the best in the business and time after time, teams get heavy reminders of his brutal force, but with a weaker bowling lineup, we r not doing ourselves any favours.

^ Pakistan did not plan a weak bowling line-up. Sami is injured, Shoaib is out of cricket for a while International that is. So, we have to work with what we have. The bowlers in my opinion are doing a pretty decent job and if they continue to plug in and be aggressive, they will get the break they are looking for.

sami is good for nothing even when he is fit, we all know that. look at his performances as of late, not a pretty picture. People like shaoib can make a lot of difference, he has done it in the past, i would've still took him. with our board telling one story, the khilari the other, it's hard to know when which player is fit and not! so dat adds to the confusion.

Shoiab should be on the team, I dont want to get into this immature "I told you so" nonsense, but the results of this test series speak for themself. In a ODI match where the new ball swings a lot, smart line and length bowling will get you wickets. In a test match sometimes against good batsmen you need to take wickets. A good batsman like a Lara won't give his wicket away with a poor shot like he might in an ODI. You need to bowlers who can penetrate and take a wicket here or there.
That said our struggles in these tests are just as much due to poor batting. The Windies have a bairly international quality bowling lineup. They are only marginally better than India (whos bowling is minnow status, probably worse than Bangladesh). Our failure to make decent batting scores against Windies shows our batting still is'nt up to par.

This is a Pak test match, discussions on performance will revolve around the playing and cud hv been playing players. Purpose is to identify the fault lines and strengths of our team. Whether SA plays or not is not the objective, goal is for Pak to win. Now if that can be achieved thru SA/Shahid Nazir/Rana well, thats fine with me. But, performance has to be discussed, objectively. Shooting down posts since they do not suite one's biases really do not help anyone.
In the absence of SA, Mohd Sami and not so impressive test match bowling of Rana, Shahid Nazir deserved a chance. Why was he not played? I hv mentioned this before, this team management has a one day mentality, they see players from a one day prism. Such a mindset cannot accept strike bowlers into their game plan. If Pak loses this test match or series this will be just another test match series where Pak has not done well. Winning one dayers is not going to be enuff, eventually talent has to be groomed for the test match cricket.

When i searched the cricinfo Statsguru i have found that Shoaib Akhtar has never dismissed Lara in his both one day or Test Career.
I doubt if his presence would have made any significant difference.
He should stay out till his attitude improves

^ For your info, there are 10 other players in West Indian team as well, not just Lara.
Withour a doubt, Akhtar is unstopable when he is on a roll but whatever PCB chooses to do with him is fine with me.

fartguru-- I dont deny your point that we discuss could have beens here but when almost every thread is derailed towards that issue, then we have to make sure we cut down on that issue.
Anyways folks. Give SA a rest and hope for his full recovery and yeah Lets see how soon Lara can be dismissed today and give Pakistan a chance.

Irrespective of how many times Lara and St Actor have faced each other, how does it make Cricinfo’s statement Idiotic, its still a fact isnt it???, or thats another Idiotic statement from ME???.
I have a few question’s,
Why is maintaining health, (and being able to bowl more that 3 overs at a stretch) such a big issue.
Why is discipline such a Taboo matter when ever we dicsuss St Actor.
Why is being wanting to be born an Australian (Just coz he feels he would be doing better) deemed as a sign of being a Pakistani Die hard Operator.
Why is passing the buck every single time ok for St Actor, (You know I could post so many instances where he has blamed from the Curator to the Water Boy and every one else in between for his misgivings).
Why is it so Bad to accept that St Actor is a Very Very Good Bowler maybe even the best in business today, in fact a match winner from any point of view, BUT if he has any flaws they can be overlooked just because he is the BEST.
Why are we willing to bend backwards for him, why, why, dont you have enough faith in the other 10 players (remember he is part of a team which has 11 players)
