PCB Chairman Addresses the Pakistan Cricket Team
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf along with other senior officials of PCB had a meeting with Pakistan Cricket Team. The meeting was held at the National cricket Academy over lunch.
Speaking to the members of the team the Chairman said **“I hope we have all learnt our lessons from the recent World Cup.” **
He said that all the players are professionals and the board expects all of them to behave in a professional way.
He told the players that the board will be closely monitoring the physical fitness levels of the players. He added that PCB has already done a baseline physical evaluation of every player in this regard.** 'I expect an improvement in the physical fitness of each player on a month to month basis,"** said the Chairman. He insisted that fitness will be major element in monitoring the central contracts of the players.
While emphasizing on the grooming of fielding skills, Dr Ashraf admitted that the existing standards are not satisfactory. He said that it is up to each player to personally commit to their improvement in this domain. This, he said is again directly related to the physical fitness of the players.
Stressing on the importance of team work, Dr Ashraf asked for a supportive role from the senior players in building and helping the youngsters. He said that all players must give 100% support to the team captain.
In response to this everybody present there, especially the senior players like M Yousaf, Abdul Razzaq and Shahid Afridi assured of their complete cooperation to both the board and the captain.
The chairman added that the entire team plays for Pakistan with the common objective to win for the country.
Dr Ashraf told the team that their fame, wealth and future, all are because of Pakistan and they are all expected to deliver their best. Encouraging the players, Dr Nasim said that they are the best lot of the players in Pakistan and they should feel fortunate enough to be selected for the National side. Dr Nasim Ashraf also encouraged the youngsters to participate and contribute in the development of game plan and match strategies.
He said that since PCB is trying to inculcate new culture and work ethics and everybody must be a part of the new developments for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
The chairman and management of PCB were highly impressed by the hard work and enthusiasm shown by all the players in the present camp. The chairman said that the efforts are extremely appreciable specially keeping in view the extremely tough conditions.
