Why do you have to be extreme with afridi? Either people want him or people want him to retire.
The idol worshipping mentality has made afridi what he is today (flop). though we did the same thing with tendulkar but he is a legend.
If this love hate fan following didnt exist then he would have been a better player. He should have been dropped years ago based on his performance. That would have given him chance to go back to domestic cricket and improve himself and make a comeback. A no gurantee of position makes a player work harder.
He is just "32". Just **DROP **him for his performance instead of calling for retirement. Give him time to improve in a academy or in domestic or first class. I can gurantee you that when he makes a comeback then you will see his best.

And yeah Afridi bashing is at its peak. The guy has been a great performer but its about time he leaves the stage because the resilience is not just there anymore. His performances have been brilliant at times for Pakistan but one thing about our players is that we never know when to let go. I hope he does some soul searching and decides that its the right time. Its sad but time does not wait for anyone. His brilliant hand eye coordination is just not there anymore.
just saw it on GEO, afridi smashed his helmet and bat in the dressing room. lets hope he never buys another bat.

Afridi will never learn responsibility. I think Younus Khan was good at encouraging Afridi and taking them best out of him. That is why they sent him at No 4 in that 2009 T20WC. Afridi scored 54 not out and beat Sri Lanka and won us the cup. He shouldered a huge responsibility. In this series, I dont think that team captain or coach gave him the confidence to make Afridi believe in himself. He had a different role, something he is not able to deliver on.
Leaving Afridi aside, I still think there are also questions on Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal's performances. They are both playing as specialist batsmen and they didnt contribute so when Afridi came out to bat, in all matches except Indian match, Afridi was always under pressure and he crumbled everytime. "2 Golden Ducks in the world cup. "

Don't think we need to anaylze this game too much. It was a close contest and we certainly made Sri Lanka earn their victory. Restricting SLA to 139 was a great effort by our bowlers. Even Tanvir bowled well today conceding just 11 runs off his three overs (usu. he goes for that many in a single over!). Yes there is disappointment that we fell short in the end and yes there were notable failures (Afridi, Malik) but had Umar Akmal been sent in after NJ we might have seen a different result today. And on another day we might have won it despite the wrong batting order.

Personally I feel that Umar Akmal and Nasir Jamshed should be openers, as they are fairly consistent performers. Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Imran Nazir should be dropped. Abdul Razzaq needs to be in the team.
There have been personal failures but above that I think there has been a failure of the system at PCB. I think that the selectors should be fired. New selectors need to be appointed but more importantly a new system of recruitment needs to be implemented. New talent needs to be cultivated and players should be assessed on a whole range of things before they are allowed to play in the team, including such things as temperament. They players should go through a cricket academy for 6 months before being assessed there and being allowed into the team if they meet the criteria and perform well in practice and in tests in a competitive environment.

Btw Pakistan couldn't have lost to a nicer team. Really liked Lankans and I hope they go all the way. They used conditions better than us and wish them well.

We have lots of nepotism in the team, not just selectors, favors are to be returned so expired item keep showing up.

No he did not, he exposed Saeed Ajmal to their fast bowler, as specialist batsman you need to take the responsibility if you want to be counted as 'finisher', it was not like we had 4-5 wickets in hand and we had lots of spare overs.
