Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

another miserable loss... oh well off to WC!

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

yes…

‘OPENERS’ is Pakistan’s problem..

'nuff said :naraz:

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

The whole team is a huge problem.
Not only Openers, its our fielding, batting and
now bowling too - something that used to be our expertise :bummer:

The whole team needs to be retired and so does PCB. :emmy:

START OVER

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

When openers chime, everyone is a Lion :phati:

dun u see the pattern :emmy:?

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

what pattern. won just 1 match and made a pattern :smack:

how many times our openers play good and then our middle order collapses (even that is an old story. now we don’t even have openers really)

its about all the departments. Need to improve all. Without shoaib Akhtar, our team is nothing.
we can only win world cup if he plays. Plus if shahid afridi some how manages to work good with both bat & ball.

PCB officials need to pay their salaries back :emmy:

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

Another one day another crushing loss. What's wrong with our team? How are they performing?

Inzi's woeful batting form in ODIs continues. Infact I can't remember the last time he scored a decent 60 or 70 in a one-day game.

It's evidently clear that this team would struggle to make it to the last 4 let alone win the WC

And someone on this very forum a few days ago was talking about 400+ totals :) Well these last few one-dayers must surely have been a reality check for him..

Forget 400+ totals. I would love to see the day when Pakistan regularly post 250-270 totals in ODIs. We may still lose some of those games but 100-150 totals give the bowlers absolutely no chance

The only factor that perhaps keeps us all interested is the unpredictability factor of our team. Even that might not come to our rescue this time around since the format is such that only the 4 most consistent teams in the super-eight round will go thru to the semis.

Last but not the least it's now clear why WE in particular have such a shambolic record against SA. 32-14 scoreline says it all

Infact all the major test playing nations have a better win-loss ratio against SA than us

Australia 34-28 (i.e. 34 wins and 28 losses against SA)
Sri Lanka 21-21 (a real surprise)
NZ 15-27
India 18-34
WI 12-26 &
Eng 11-21

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

That was what I thought. the same batch gave the commentary when india was touring SA. Except that Ravi shastri took the place of Ramiz. They are blatently onesided.

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

Guys don't get so emotional about all this. Think when was the last time we won any multi national tournament involving more than two teams. The anwer is "I don't remember". Our away record is dismal simply because we don't have a good team.
In current form only Asif and Muhammad Yousaf can walk into any team today. The rest are average (Shoaib Malik, Younis, Inzi, Razzak, Afridi, Umar) or below average players that nobody would want in their side.
Shoaib Akhtar does not count as he is hardly around.
This series is a good reality check for all the fans.

Even if by some miracle we are to win the WC, it would still not mean that we are the best team on Earth. It would only prove how warped the whole one day affair is. Ideally the format should be that all teams should play each other and whoever wins the most declared the WC winners. This would show the consistency of a team and only good teams will win. Any team can have a bad day like when we saw BD beat Aus.
We suck right now and do not deserve to win or even be in the semis. I would be surprised if we do make it that far.
A mediocre side that got mauled by a much superior SA side. My vote is with SA as I want them to win for they are going to be worthy winners. Even Aus deserve the win for they have talent and the will to win. Let us not forget the hard work that they put in.
With a lethargic captain and even more lethargic coach (I have always seen him type in the lap top with a speed that will put a snail to shame) average players what do you expect?
Still all the best to Pak but really we don't deserve to win. The best team we ever had was during the 1986 and 1999 WC and in both cases we came very close to winning and would have been befitting winners. Our 1992 team was good too but not the best compared to the others yet we won the WC :-)

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

:dhimpak: one less team for other teams to worry about in the WC…:hehe: with teampak current form even ireland will be fancing their chances of an upset in the WC…:shoaby:

Its the first time that your post is not making me mad.

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

South Africa is in the best position to challenge Australia for the title. Other teams such as England, Pakistan, New Zeland and SL/ India have been inconsistent to make any prediction. For them it will all come down to their talent and veterans, but I must say South Africa has a habit of choking. Last World Cup, they had a strong team but lost to West Indies and tied with Sri lanka.

atlease they [SL,ENG,NZ,IND] compete...they don't fold like a deck of cards when facing some L&L bowling...teampak is all about hot air n nothing else...

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

SL, Eng, NZ and India have their fair share of humiliating defeats. England had the most miserable tour of Australia recently. The only solance they got is by winning in the ODI's, which is good for them but proves nothing.

Re: Pakistan vs South Africa @ Johannsburg, Feb 14th 2007

Are you sure 32-14 or it is otherway around, khair it OK we have brilliant record against India, who cares about others.:)
